The Flash #792 continues the One-Minute War event with an Impulse-ive plan to steal Fraction tech and reverse engineer a defense.
Is It Good?

Up to this point, the One-Minute War has been... just okay. Jeremy Adams's premise about super-speed aliens has struggled against mediocre motivations and one-dimensional villains. Those shortcomings have stayed the same, but The Flash #792 amps up the fun action enough to get reluctant readers back on board.

When last we left the Flash family, the survivors began to find each other to regroup and reassess their situation. Meanwhile, the Fraction unleashed Miss Murder - a Batman Who Laughs derivative from the Dark World - to capture speedsters, called "conduits" by the Fraction.

Now, the lead Flashs relocate everyone to a Mr. Terrific safehouse and conclude they need to steal Fraction tech to figure out how the Fraction can do what they do and stop it. From there, Bart and Wallace simply charge off with the "stealing" goal in mind, leading to junior Flash hijinks.

The junior Flash shenanigans are fast-paced, just amusing enough to be fun without turning the event into a joke, and underscore why sometimes it's better to act than think too much.

Wallace and Bart are perfect foils for each other's personalities, their dialog hits the sweet spot between juvenile but still heroic, and their success in their mission feels earned. In all, this was a fun issue.

The art by Cruz and Dias is fine. Detail could be better in the still shots, but the action is where this art team shines. Guerrero's colors look great, and the whole book is visually pleasing.

Bits and Pieces:

The Flash #792 picks up the pace and the fun of the One-Minute War event with a Wallace and Bart-centric issue. Adams nails the slightly juvenile charm of the leads, the execution and success of their mission make sense, and the action is a lot of fun.

8.5/10
