Detective Comics #1063 Review

The Deed is Done

Writer: V. Ram, Simon Spurrier
Artist: Rafael Albuquerque, Dani
Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: August 23, 2022

While it seems that I am one of the few people who haven't fallen head over heels for Ram V's writing, I understand his appeal and have read some things of his that I loved, like the Justice League Dark Annual a few years back and his
The Many Deaths of Laila Starr, which I highly recommend. I will put the blame solely on my shoulders - I am a dummy who likes to read comics to have some fun and forget about real life for a little, while Ram V is obviously going for something a bit more substantial. With all that said, I was optimistic after reading the last issue of Detective Comics, his first of the series.  Yea, it didn't hurt that he is following Mariko Tamaki's less than stellar time on the book, but the horror-tinged story feels like a great fit for him and Rafael Albuquerque.  So let's see if Detective Comics #1063 continues the upward trend...

We're coming down to the end of our Warworld saga, where Superman, after being a gladiator for the amusement of Mongul has put together a band of revolutionaries, and hopefully, with the power that rests at the center of Warworld, our band of heroes will be able to turn the tides on the ruler of this insidious planet. In our previous issue, Superman had found the entrance to that power, which is the remnant of the God of Gods from the First World and now he just has to prove that he's worthy to take the Fire of Olgrum. Let's jump into this issue as Superman takes on a sandworm from Dune. Let's check it out.

Robin #17 Review

Never The End

Written By: Joshua Williamson
Art By: Roger Cruz, Norm Rapmund, Luis Guerrero, Troy Peteri
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: August 23, 2022

Sadly, it's the end of our Robin series.... for now, but as this series ends, it leads into the Batman Vs. Robin mini-series that's going to continue our storyline here and what came from the Batman/Superman: World's Finest story featuring the Devil Nezha. Previously in this series, we saw Robin and Connor Hawke go to Japan to see Flatline since Lord Death Man showed up on the shores of Lazarus Island looking for protection from his former protege, but all of this seemed to be a ruse so that Lord Death Man could be alone on Lazarus Island, where he found Damian's Great Grandmother, Mother Soul. If that wasn't ominous enough, we then saw the two start smooching... Yeah, smooching....... but Lord Death Man doesn't have any lips.... yuck. Let's jump into this issue and see what Lord Death Man and Mother Soul have planned for Damian Wayne's final issue of his Robin series. Let's check it out.

Task Force Z #11 Review

The Real Power At Powers International

Written By: Matthew Rosenberg
Art By: Eddy Barrows, Eber Ferreira, Adriano Lucas, Rob Leigh
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: August 23, 2022

It's the penultimate issue of Task Force Z and boy do we have a lot to do to get this series done. I mean, not only do we have to storm Powers International with our proper Task Force Z team that's led by Jason Todd, but after the last issue we have to figure out where the resurrected, pumped full of venom, and then made to think he was Bane, Gotham fits into all of this and how his sister is going to deal with his return... Not to mention the Bat-Family's take on all of this. Yeah, this has turned into a weird series, which is saying something for a series that's based on zombie villains working together as a team, but as weird as it has become, I hope that the weirdest takes a powder for a bit so we can see Mr. Bloom get what's coming to him. Let's check this issue out.
