When Good People Do Nothing

Written By: John Ridley
Art By: Laura Braga, Arif Prianto
Letters By: Clayton Cowles
Cover Price: $7.99
Release Date: February 2, 2021

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

The Future State book for Batman has been pretty good so far and I’m hoping that the quality of this book continues down this road. That said I am still hung up on the price. The $7.99 price tag is steep for a comic book and frankly, the extra stories don’t particularly interest me all that much. Not to suggest they are bad or anything but we bought the book because we wanted to read a Batman book. So when a large portion of the book is something else, then it becomes harder to justify dropping all that money on it. However, at the same time, I cannot deny that we are currently receiving a very high quality Batman story in these books. If the book was just Batman, then it’s be an easy book to recommend, but it isn’t. That said, let’s jump into this book and see where it takes us.

Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: February 2, 2021

Interrupting our previously scheduled Future State months, we have a story that brings us back to our present continuity or at least present adjacent with the Man-Bat five-issue mini-series. The reason I say present adjacent is because we aren't really picking up where we last left Kirk Langstrom in the Justice League Dark series but instead look like we're just being thrown into a story that takes place "Gotham City - Somewhen" Let's jump into this issue and see what's going on with Man-Bat and if it feels like something important. Let's check it out.

Art By: John Timms, Gabe Eltaeb, Dave Sharpe, Valentine de Landro, Marissa Louise, Cully Hamner, Laura Martin, Andworld Design

It's time to jump back into the year 2030 and not only see how Jon Kent is going to make things right since the last issue he not only shrunk down Metropolis into a bottled city, but let the villain Brain Cells fly off with it, but also see how Shilo Norman and Guardian do their separate hero-ing in the bottled city. Let's jump into this issue and hope that the main story and both the backups are pretty good because when you have a book with this many stories, it's hard to get a pretty solid issue. Let's check it out.

Future State: Wonder Woman #2 continues Yara Flor/Wonder Woman's journey through the underworld to bring back her fallen sister, Potira. Along the way, she faces off against giant, three-headed hounds and death demons with a colorful imagination for torture methods. When Hades gives her a chance to earn her wish, Yara must learn to fight with her heart instead of her fists. In the end, Yara learns the very painful lesson that you can't always get what you want, but you get what you need. It's deeply impactful. It's heartbreaking in all the right ways. It's (the best so far) Future State.
