Let's head back to Lazarus Island to see the League of Lazarus' big death tournament that Damian Wayne has placed himself in so that he can learn why this League was kept a mystery to him his whole life but for that to happen, our youngest Robin is going to have to survive and for all his bluster, it looks like Damian is going to have some actual competition in this blood sport because not only is Ravager one of the contestants, but Connor Hawke as well. Let's jump into this issue and see what happens now that the tournament has finally begun. Let's check it out.

While I would love to tell you that the League of Lazarus tournament was worth the wait, now that it has actually started this issue becomes quite boring as we spend pages just seeing panels of people getting punched or kicked in the face with different pairings of fighters that you barely know or don't know at all, while Damian Wayne goes over what he's been doing in trying to uncover Mother Soul's possible diabolical plans. So yeah, a lot of recap and a lot of randos getting attacked and killed with varying degrees of what is shown...... Thank goodness we have our main players to give this issue a little heart.

So while I won't tell you that this is the most interesting issue to this series so far, the interactions between Robin and Flatline are great this issue and you even get a bare-bones backstory on this young femme fatale that I wish was more in-depth, but it's still cool that we got something about the character, not to mention that I really like the foursome that's coming together between our main character, Flatline, Ravager, and Connor Hawke and while you won't get a ton of new story out of these characters, the conversations between them are fun and I look forward to seeing more of them as we continue.

All in all, the art in this issue is amazing, I just wish it was used to make the tournament actually feel exciting instead of just filling up pages of punches and kicks because while we've been waiting for this tournament to start since the beginning of this series, it's already become the most boring part of this book, not to mention it just became a backdrop as our main characters just caught everyone up with what's been going on before our characters start getting to the mystery of Mother Soul and Lazarus Island. That being said, I already love these characters and not only want more of them but don't ever want to see them apart because this foursome is something special and while this issue didn't do much for me, the characters small banter between each other was great and really saved this issue overall.

Bits and Pieces:

The tournament has started and...... Well, it's a pretty bland/boring bit to this book that is more concerned with recapping what we've been doing than really showing us something cool or even making sure we know the characters participating in the deathmatch. That being said, the book looks great and the core characters that we have are fun together and really boost this book with some heart that I look forward to getting more of.

6.5/10
