Catch Me If You Can
Release Date: August 24, 2021
Once again we're heading off to Lazarus Island to continue the League of Lazarus tournament and also... maybe learn what's so important that the League of Lazarus was kept secret from not only Damian Wayne, but us as well. First though, we need to have the former Robins come to look for Damian and try to bring him home. Let's jump into this issue and see how Damian loses his siblings and gets back to business. Let's check it out.
For the majority of our issue, we're dealing with the former Robins all going after Damian Wayne and I'm talking about Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, and Stephanie Brown all going after Damian, who agrees to go back with them to Gotham if they're able to catch him..... and this scenario leads to a bunch of fun and sentiment, even if I'm not a fan about how they played Jason Todd's angle on this but overall this is the type of scenario that we need to see more often with less tragedy involved in the background of why it's going on. Pretty much you're going to have Damian tell us what makes each former Robin tick before going back to the tournament.
As for the tournament itself... Well, it's ready to get started now that Ravager was murdered in the previous issue and now that she's resurrected and everyone in the tournament has died once, the League of Lazarus are going to raise their magical stadium and praise their demon god and while this should maybe worry at least one of the fighters involved..... instead they're ready to get back to the killing.
All in all, the art in this issue is amazing and I love what Gleb Melnikov brings to this series and while this issue is more about fan service to a degree than continuing with our tournament story, it's fan service that's giving us background into Damian's mindset and where he is right now so not only is it fun but it's also poignant....... and I appreciate that in this book..... Even though Damian did kill Brother Blood and imprisoned villains before this series got started and nobody is reacting to that. This is a fun issue though that does some cool stuff on and off Lazarus Island and I can't wait to get back to this title next issue and see what's next for Damian Wayne.
Bits and Pieces:
Robin continues to be an entertaining ride, even though we're dealing with the guilt and grief of Damian Wayne but the journey our young Robin is on is one that I continue to enjoy, especially with the rest of the former Robins involved in this issue and the art and colors throughout were amazing.
