It's the year 2025 and the Bat-Family is in shambles. The Magistrate has taken over Gotham City and turned into a police state that wants to shoot all masks on sight. To further achieve this goal the Magistrate has been working on converting the Lazarus Pits liquid into resin so that they can hopefully turn their robotic police force, "The Cybers" into immortal automatons. It's up to Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown and a plucky former We Are Robin member named Darcy to stop the shipment of Lazarus Resin from coming into the city even if that means death....... and as we saw from the previous issue, Tim Drake died for his endeavor but was soaked in the Lazarus Resin, bringing him back...... but was he brought back right? Let's jump into this issue and check it out.

So now that Tim Drake is resurrected and covered in Lazarus Resin he may as well be a one-man-army-corps because he is kicking ass and he may be taking names but I'm not sure if he has the time for that last part. While it's cool to see that Tim is now more powerful than he's ever been because of his resurrection, it's not all pinatas and RC Cola, no, because while he feels fine initially he starts realizing that there are side-effects for humans... Well mostly due to their emotions, but these side effects include crippling hallucinations and death. Yeah, it's not all that it's cracked up to be but we find out that Tim didn't really plan on leaving this mission alive anyway so if he has some extra juice to see the job through and make sure that none of this resin makes its way into Gotham.... he's willing to pay the price.

With all that action we also see the mind of Tim Drake as he trips out during his fight and his doubts and fears are exposed, which is a cool addition to this story, even if it paints Tim in a bad light at times, but it's seeing Robin overcome this that really leads to a cool ending, even if it is a bit disappointing that it simply ends and we don't know how things will turn out afterward....... Yeah, it says the story continues with the Batgirls backup of The Next Batman, but it doesn't line up right and doesn't feel as connected as it should.

All in all, I love the art in this book, and seeing Tim Drake become a powerhouse due to the resin's effects was pretty cool and led to an action-packed issue. Yeah, you don't really get a lot of Darcy, the former We Are Robin member who teamed up with Tim for this story and the Stephanie Brown connection between this story and the Batgirls backup is pretty damn thin if not feeling completely unconnected. Even with these problems and the all-around silly notion of making robots immortal through Lazarus Resin, I had fun with this issue and liked the dive into Tim's psyche, but would have liked more out of this and the status quo change for Tim Drake beyond that he just got over the side effects, but it is what it is.

Bits and Pieces:

Yeah, I'm a bit of a Tim Drake fanboy and maybe I'm letting my love for the character bias my opinions of this book but with these self-reflective looks aside, this is still an action-packed, fun-filled book that looks great all the way. Sure I would have liked some more things explained along the way and would have liked a better connection between Stephanie Brown's appearance here and in her Batgirls backup, but even with these problems I had a good time with this and loved seeing Robin kick ass and take names the whole way through.

7.5/10
