*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*
Well, we have wandered out of the Joker War crossover and we walked right into a transition issue to follow it up. I wouldn’t say that it was really bad or anything, but it was just pointless. I feel like comic book companies continually feel like they have to appeal to new fans rather than keep up with the fans that they already have (and are probably losing) and so in the previous issue of Batman, we got a refresher about how the Joker War will affect things going forward, and let me tell ya, it was a goddamn snooze fest. I get it. There will be some fans that want to jump into the Batman book and jumping on after the conclusion of a big crossover event is as good a place to start as any. That being said, maybe just have a blurb at the beginning of the book like Marvel does? I’m not saying it’s perfect but I much prefer it over wasting 4 dollars every couple of months on an issue that basically catches the reader up. Anyway, we ended the crossover, and caught new people up on the current story. Now we can jump into something new and exciting…. please?
It's the final issue of Young Justice and I can't say that I really liked any of this series, which is crazy to me because I loved the original Young Justice back in the late '90s and love all of the characters that originally made up that team that are present in this series. The problem is, Brian Michael Bendis never really cared about the details of the characters that he was using and spent forever to explain why they were even here in the first place since they were erased from the timeline after Flashpoint or they were replaced by other versions of themselves that were then erased for other reasons... it's all kind of a mess and this series never made sense of it or really explored the new characters that were introduced for this iteration of the team. It's the final issue though and what better time to give us something with the Teen Lantern? Let's jump into this issue and see what we end up with.
The quest to destroy Perpetua's throne continues with our Death Metal Justice League team but it doesn't look like they're going to complete it because at the end of the last issue, the guard of the throne, the larger than life Omega Knight seemed to sneak up on our heroes and blast them all to hell. If that wasn't enough to bet against a happy ending, we also have the Martian Manhunter/Batman amalgam, Mindhunter standing in the way of a win. Let's jump into this issue and see how the hell anyone survived last issue's cliffhanger and if it's a satisfying answer at that. Let's check it out.
It's back to the Dark Multiverse...... for some reason, where Tempus Fuginaut instead of maybe helping with Death Metal is telling us stories about how the worlds down below are different than the one we know, and for this tale, he's going to be looking at a world that was affected by the death of the Waynes, but where they were also accompanied by The Elliots. That's right we're going to be looking at a messed up Hush world so let's jump into this issue and see if this divergence in the timeline of this world is subtle and clever or if it just goes balls to the walls insane for no apparent reason. Let's check it out.
