Green Lantern: Season Two #4 Review

Don't Toy with Me

Writer: Grant Morrison
Artist: Liam Sharp
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: June 17, 2020

This season of Green Lantern has been wacky!  Grant Morrison seems more intent on warping people's minds with slightly related one-shots than telling a story, but Liam Sharp's art kick ass!  So, what do they have for us this week?  Let's find out...

DCeased: Hope At World's End #3 Review

Writer: Tom Taylor
Artist: Carmine Di Giandomenico, Rex Lokus, and Saida Temofonte
Cover Price: $0.99
Release Date: June 3, 2020

Tom Taylor's digital-only DCeased book has me interested after two chapters.  Sure, I am still looking for an overall plot, but seeing Jimmy Olsen react to the beginning of the Anti-Life plague in the first Chapter and then Black Adam "save" Kandaq, but not himself, in Chapter 2 has me intrigued.  When I heard that Wally West would be the POV character for this Chapter, I was cautiously optimistic.  It was not about the plot, because it seemed like another separate piece, but if Wally would survive by the end.  Tom Taylor does have a predilection for killing characters, especially ones he loves, and he said he loved Wally on Twitter!  Oh no!  Is DCeased: Hope At World's End #3 good and Wally get treated well, or will the speedster be a hero in crisis?  Let's find out...

The Flash Annual #3 Review and *SPOILERS*

Boomerang is the Best

Written By: Joshua Williamson
Art By: Stephen Segovia, Brandon Peterson, Carlo Pagulayan, Jason Paz, Hi-Fi
Letters By: Steve Wands
Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: June 16, 2020

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

Joshua Williamson is the type of writer that you don’t know which version of himself is going to show up. There have been several Flash storylines that I have absolutely loved during his run. However, he has also given us some absolute trash fires. Now he’s in charge of the latest annual. Sometimes annuals will tie into the main continuity but for the most part they tend to be self contained. So the question is, with only one issue to tell a whole story, will we get the Joshua Williamson that shines? Or the Joshua Williamson that drops the ball? The only way we will know is by diving into this latest issue. So, let’s just jump right into it.

Wonder Woman #757 Review

Imperfect Stranger

Writer: Steve Orlando
Artist: Jesus Merino, Vicente Cifuentes, Romulo Fajardo Jr., and Pat Brosseau
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: June 17, 2020

The Four Horsewomen story is coming to an end this week, and yet, it seems like it just started picking up steam.  Steve Orlando spent a lot of time in the recruitment phase of the story, but we don't have four going into the finale.  That math doesn't add up!  Hopefully, that's the only problem here because I can quickly get past that if everything else makes sense and is fun to read.  Does it, and is it?  Let's find out...

Superman #22 Review

So Much For Warworld

Written By: Brian Michael Bendis
Art By: Kevin Maguire, Alex Sinclair, Dave Sharpe
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: June 16, 2020

It's time to finish out The Truth and what it means for Superman to not only reveal his identity to the world but to also declare himself an ambassador of Earth for the United Federation of Planets.  If that wasn't enough....... and it really hasn't been, we also have Mongul mucking about and Superman doing whatever he can to stop him from attacking Earth.  Let's jump into this issue and see if anything great has come from Clark taking off the glasses or if this just ends with a whimper instead of a bang.  Let's check it out.

Young Justice #15 Review

Superboy: The Truth

Written By: Brian Michael Bendis, David Walker
Art By: John Timms, Scott Godlewski, Gabe Eltaeb, Wes Abbott
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: June 16, 2020

It's the moment we've all been waiting for, the issue where Brian Michael Bendis tells us what's been going on with Young Justice, where some of our members remember one another and others don't.  Yeah, I'm sure that we'll get the bare minimum so that we can continue this conversation for the rest of the year in this and other books, but I know that I'm definitely interested in what brought Pre-Flashpoint Bart Allen and Conner Kent into our current reality and I can only hope that Bendis has a proper explanation for all of us.  Previously, we saw our Young Justice team break into the secret base of STAR Labs, where the evil Dr. Glory was hiding out so that they could retrieve Superboy from Skartaris.  With our Metropolis Kid back, now it's time to get some answers.  Let's jump into this issue and check it out.

Nightwing Annual #3 Review

Limp

Writer: Dan Jurgens
Artist: Inaki Miranda, Nick Filardi, and Andworld Designs
Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: June 17, 2020

What do you do with a Nightwing Annual when your main character doesn't even know who the hell he is?  Go back to when he did, that's what!  It's a peek at what this series could have been if Dan Jurgens was able to write Nightwing as Nightwing.  Unfortunately, that may not be a good alternative, either!

Strange Adventures #2 Review

Writer: Tom King
Artist: Mitch Gerads, Doc Shaner
Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: June 16, 2020

Tom King is back with another sideways look at superhero life, and the first issue was pretty much what I expected.  We got some death, some juxtaposition between the fantastic and the mundane, more death, and some pretty impressive art from Mitch Gerads and Doc Shaner.  I was looking forward to seeing Mr. Terrific in this issue and maybe get cracking on this mystery.  Is that what we get, and is it any good?  Let's find out...

Hawkman #24 Review

A Face Full Of Mace

Written By: Robert Venditti
Art By: Fernando Pasarin, Oclair Albert, Cam Smith, Wade Von Grawbadger, Jeremy Cox, Rob Leigh
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: June 16, 2020

Now that the Sky Tyrant and the Batman Who Laughs Infection of Carter Hall is just over, it's time to get back to where this series started with the Lord Beyond The Void and Ktar Deathbringer.  In our previous issue, Carter and Shayera found themselves transported to the void that Ktar had banished his god and his soldiers at the beginning of his life, thus putting him on the path to pay for his past evils and being cursed/gifted with the power of resurrection to make sure that he could save as many people as he once killed.  Let's see if we can find out what Shayera knows about all of this and what this dark dimension has instore for our Hawks.  Let's check it out.

Metal Men #7 Review

When Metal Animals Attack!

Written By: Dan Didio, Shane Davis
Art By: Shane Davis, Michelle Delecki, Jason Wright, Travis Lanham

Release Date: June 16, 2020

It's time to get back to the Metal Men....... or...... the Metal Mammals or the Metal Menagerie, whatever they want to be called going forward, it's time to dive into an issue, where we see what Will Magnus does once his team of Metal heroes abandons him now that they've become self-aware...... he builds a new team.  I've been really enjoying this series so far, let's see if that continues now that we've got a new team of heroes fighting the good fight and now that our beloved Metal Men have gone off on their own to find themselves.  Let's jump into this issue and check it out.

Batman and the Outsiders #13 Review

Is It The Shoes?

Writer: Bryan Hill
Artist: Gleb Melnikov
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: June 16, 2020

Batman and the Outsiders has been in a tug-of-war since it started, with Bryan Hill giving some good character moments in one issue and then great action in another.  Yet, the two rarely come together in the same issue.  When they do, it has been awesome, but again, that rarely happens.  Do those two great tastes that taste great together happen to both show up this month?  Let's find out...
