The Justice League find themselves in a pickle for this over-sized issue that concludes our current story because not only have our heroes screwed up every step of the way when it comes to leading a planet, whose people are divided into two factions, the Way of the Cell and the Way of the Spark. Pretty much, those who don't want cybernetics and those who do. So yeah, our team is offending the cultural differences between them, dealing with an alien invasion and really, just arguing among themselves about what to do in their current situation. Pretty much, we just see our heroes fail over and over again, but hopefully, with this finale, we can finally see the greatest superheroes win at least once here. Let's jump into this issue and check it out.
If you've been enjoying this story arc I do think that you'll really enjoy what we get here because while I'm not totally sold on everything because it really just plays on the idea of a series of unfortunate misunderstandings, this issue is my favorite of this three-issue arc and maybe it's because the oversized issue was able to give the page space to really flesh some more things out....... or maybe it's just because we actually see our heroes come out on top by the end........ never underestimate the power of seeing your heroes acting like heroes.
While I do enjoy what we get here more than I have previously, there's a lot to unpack here and the ending plays off like a mystery where all the cards are left on the table, which I usually dig...... the only problem here though, I didn't realize that we were really dealing with a mystery or the reveal of the double reveal that we get by the end where our villain lays down her plot, then our heroes reveal that they've been secretly playing into her plot so that they can reveal her as a villain......... the same way that she's been doing to our heroes this whole time. Yeah, this may seem kind of cryptic, but I don't want to reveal the whole story, but if you've read the issue already, you know what I'm talking about and while I do like this issue more than what we've been getting, I'll be glad to move onto something new next issue.
All in all, the art was okay this issue, not something that I really love overall, but I'm not hating either........ it does its job and I could tell everything that was going on. As for the story, it was a little overwritten for what we were dealing with in my mind and the majority of the story just showed our heroes as lamebrains until we could finally reveal them as the victors at the end of this, while just realizing that "yeah, we shouldn't rule people. Wonder Woman was right". It was pretty lackluster when it comes to this, but you get some great action and an issue where our heroes look better than they have previously.......... and I'll take it.
Bits and Pieces:
It's all laid out on the table here about what's been going on and maybe it's because of this overwritten ending that things felt like they went on a little too long and got a little boring, but even with those aspects, this is still my favorite chapter of this three-issue arc because by the end it at least made our heroes look like heroes.
7/10
