DC has a distinctly odd publishing strategy at the moment. Its main line of books is… compact. A small inner core of ‘big’ characters’ books continues to be published twice a month; a slightly larger outer core of monthly titles, most of which are connected with that group of ‘big’ books, complements that inner core (I’m including Wonder Comics in this section; they are connected by virtue of being ‘curated’ by the writer of Superman and Action Comics and one of the two main creative forces vying for authorial supremacy in the DC Universe). And then, on the periphery, lurk some weird, quirky books whose reason for existing is not immediately obvious. Last week’s Gotham City Monsters is one such book; this week’s The Inferior Five is another. Let me explain why…

Teen Titans #34 Review

One Ring To Rule Them All

Written By: Adam Glass
Art By: Bernard Chang, Marcelo Maiolo, Rob Leigh
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: September 18, 2019

There's been some tension in the Teen Titans lately and I don't know how anyone is going to feel when they learn that Robin  and Djinn have been pulling the old Identity Crisis mind screw-job on villains and making them into responsible members of society.  Yeah.... somehow that feels worse than just keeping them locked up in a dungeon like they were doing, but all these questions we have about the morality of their actions is going to have to be put on hold to deal with the idea that someone has stolen Djinn's ring and whoever it may be has just taken the power of genie for themselves.  Let's jump into this issue and find out who's stolen the magic.  Let's check it out.

Supergirl #34 Review and *SPOILERS*

It Was a Set-Up!

Art By: Eduardo Pansica, Julio Ferreira, FCO Plascencia
Letters By: Tom Napolitano
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: September 18, 2019

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

Supergirl has been in crossover hell for the better part of this year and even though we are going to be coming out of the Leviathan Rising one-shot, we are finally going to be going forward with a stand alone Supergirl story. At least, that seems to be the intent at this time. Marc Andreyko was really doing a great job with the space adventure story arc before it got interrupted and hurried along by the crossover. So, the idea of Marc Andreyko getting to work on his own once again is a welcome idea. Hopefully, this new start will bring us the quality storytelling that we’ve been missing in this book. Let’s just jump into it and see where it takes us.

One Lex To Fool Them All

Written by: Jason Latour
Art by: Bryan Hitch, Andrew Currie, Tomeu Morey, and Tom Napolitano
Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: September 18, 2019

I can't say that I've really been enjoying most of these Year of the Villain one-shots because that would be a lie and my mom always told me, "Jimmy, you are never going to do anything worthwhile in this life if you don't learn to concentrate on what blah, blah, blah, blah!" Now, what was I talking about?  I can't remember, so on to the review!

Flash Forward #1 Review

The Road To Redemption

Written By: Scott Lobdell
Art By: Brett Booth, Norm Rapmund, Luis Guerrero, Troy Peteri
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: September 18, 2019

From the pages of Heroes in Crisis comes Flash Forward, the mini-series that we all hope will fix what that event did to Wally West and make him not only a hero in our eyes again, but to his friends and family as well.  It's going to be hard, but hopefully the next six issues or subsequent series after this one do some real work to make Wally West the Flash that I grew up loving and make him relevant to this continuity beyond just someone pining for a family that he never had in this continuity.  Let's jump into this issue and see what we're playing with here.

Batman #79 Review and *SPOILERS*

The Honeymooners

Written By: Tom King
Art By: Clay Mann, Seth Mann, Tomeu Morey
Letters By: Clayton Cowles
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: September 18, 2019

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

The previous issue of this book was something really special. However, I can understand why people may have had an issue with it. We took yet another detour from our main story in order to revisit the story of Batman and Catwoman’s relationship. While some people may have disliked it, I found it to be really fantastic. It honestly felt like the kind of issue that Tom King’s writing style perfectly fits. I absolutely loved it. That being said, I’m ready to return to the meat and potatoes of this book. I want to get back to Gotham. I want to see our hero making moves to take on the villain. I want proper story progression. I’m incredibly happy to have been proven wrong in the last issue, however, I’m ready for something new. I want this story to move forward. So, let’s just jump right into this issue and see where it takes us.

Release Date: September 11th, 2019

Review by Joey Casco of TheWineStalker.net

I apologize for delaying this review a whole week but it's my own damn fault. I kept procrastinating with starting my latest big article for my own blog and next thing I knew I didn't have a lot of time left to write it, so I had to power that out instead! But because this issue has already been out for a week, I'm gonna keep this quick.

In the last issue Cyborg, Azrael, and Starfire become completely under the control of Darkseid as he has created his new Apocolips in the Ghost Sector. What else happened? Oh yeah... he killed Jessica Cruz by frying her to a crisp with his Omega beams.
