Review by Joey Casco of TheWineStalker.net

To read the other reviews of this arc, check out the "The Night of Brahma" label.

Kent Nelson is dead but Nabu inhabits Kent's corpse to mentor the new Dr. Fate, Eric Strauss, who was a 10 year old boy aged up to an adult by Nabu. But the catch is that Eric must merge with his stepmother Linda in order to become Fate. Joined by a shapeshifting demon named Petey and a lawyer named Jack Small (who has had his body taken over by a Lord of Chaos named Typhon), they must all stop the Lords of Order from bringing about the end of the world.

The Lords of Order have employed a vampire named Andrew Bennett, who just wants to friggin' die already. In the last issue he purified himself by drinking from the Holy Grail so he could play Krishna's flute to start the Mahapralaya (the Sleep of Brahma). At the end of the issue, that's exactly what he did. He played the flute and everything went black.

But, just like always, Andrew Bennett came back. And you really can't help but feel bad for the guy.

BATMAN/TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES III #5 REVIEW

Writer: James Tynion IV
Art Team: Freddie E Williams, Kevin Eastman, Jermy Colwell
DC Comics/IDW Publishing
Release Date: September 4, 2019
Cover Price:  $3.99

Black, White, & COLOR?!

Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossovers score points in my book simply for taking a couple of my favorite childhood properties and smashing them together to see what happens. Sure by the end it wraps up ultimately being a predictable crossover extravaganza, but this third volume has stood out for its uniqueness, due largely to the fact of its multiverse angle.  So lets get back to business in the penultimate issue and see where it leaves us for the finale.

The last issue of Supergirl felt so long ago but where we left off, Zaar had just gotten his axe back. That being said, Supergirl is in a weird place. It’s been sucked into this crossover with Superman all the whole El family. Because of this, readers that only get Supergirl are doomed to be very confused by this coming issue. However, there is a light at the end of this tunnel. This issue seems to be poised to tie up all the loose ends of this series and take us boldly into the next story arc. However, until we get there, let’s jump into this issue and see where it takes us.

DCEASED: A GOOD DAY TO DIE #1 REVIEW

Release Date: September 4th, 2019
Cover Price: $4.99

The Zombie Comedy Hour

DCeased came storming out of the gate for DC Comics catching everyone, including the company, off guard a bit with how well it started selling.  So of course in the age of comics books we live in now, the logical decision for DC to make is to rush and add some tie-ins to the sudden surprise seller, all to capitalize on the popularity of the title while they can. What we get from those decisions is DCceased: A Good Day to Die, so lets discuss, and see how necessary this tie in to a simple zombie story really is.

Deathstroke #47 Review

The Deathstroke Of Old

Written By: Christopher Priest
Art By: Fernando Pasarin, Carlo Pagulayan, Jason Paz, Cam Smith, Wade Von Grawbadger, Jeremy Cox, Willie Schubert
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: September 4, 2019

Deathstroke is dead and because of that the offer from Lex Luthor went to Jericho, who with this new power has some good intentions, but that's what the road to hell is paved with and even though we know Joey to be a heroic character, I think all of this power has straight up gone to his head.  If that wasn't enough to keep you reading Deathstroke....... Well, it also looks like Slade might have appeared out of thin air in Rose and Hosun's apartment at the end of last issue........ which I'm sure will be a problem for a lot of people in the DCU.  Let's jump into this issue and check it out.

Lois Lane #3 Review

I Only Have Two Questions

Written By: Greg Rucka
Art By: Mike Perkins, Paul Mounts, Simon Bowland,
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: September 4, 2019

This has been a tough title for me each month because on top of continuing a status quo that I'm not a fan of, where Lois is living in Chicago and deciding that her and Clark have a special marriage where they don't have to be together, not to mention that everyone thinks that she's cheating on Clark with Superman, there's also this reporter angle to the book that I don't think has really gone anywhere besides for trying to be topical.  I do go into this book each issue though hoping for the best and that's exactly what I'm going to do here....... hint, hint...... I like this issue.

Justice League #31 Review

Writer: Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV
Artist: Jorge Jimenez
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: September 4, 2019

Two weeks in a row for the Justice League book, but that's alright with me!  I mean, getting the JSA back is not something that happens every week and I couldn't wait to get more of them.  What about Kamandi?  Well, I don't want to diss on the Last Boy on Earth, but...  So, how was this issue and does Snyder and Tynion continue to make this the event book they promised it would be?  Let's find out...

Legion of Super-Heroes: Millennium #1 Review and Spoilers

Thorny

Letters by: Dave Sharpe
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: September 4, 2019

I'm a Legion of Superheroes fan. Issue 251 of Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes was my first ever DC Comics purchase. The sheer wealth of characters, their colorful costumes, odd names, and equally strange powers (Matter-Eater Lad? Bouncing Boy?) appealed to my sense of wonder, drama, and fun. I've had a soft spot for the Legion ever since. So, when DC announced that Brian Michael Bendis would take on the responsibility of penning the next chapter in the Legion's labyrinthine adventures, I was excited. And a little concerned. That Bendis would play fast and loose with Legion continuity was certain. But how fast and loose? Would his teenage superheroes simply be 31st-century analogs of today's 'kids', or would Bendis manage to give them more distinctive, unique voices? Speaking of voices, how much dialogue would there be? (I mean, I like a good bit of banter more than most – and certainly more than Jim and Eric – but even I have limits.) Most importantly, would Bendis manage to capture the sense of wonder, fun, and adventure that had so hooked me as a kid? Well…
