**NON SPOILERS AND SCORE AT THE BOTTOM**
We were promised a story battle at the end of the last issue, and by gum we’d better get it now! Mind you, it’s sort of weird to promise a story within a story, but it’s not the first time it has been done. George Orwell crammed like a whole third of another book in the pages of 1984! Let’s hope it doesn’t get that dire in House of Whispers #9—and you can find out by reading my review! Right here!
The Flash #70 Review and *SPOILERS*
Flash Origins
Art By: Howard Porter, Hi-Fi
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: May 8, 2019
*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*
Flash has gotten back on his feet after the previous issue. Last issue really set a high bar and maybe that will weigh this new story arc down a little bit but I hope this isn’t the case. The previous story line was very well done and I enjoyed it thoroughly. This was especially nice after Force Quest shenanigans took over the book and dragged it down into the muck. But we’ve left that behind and it was revealed at the end of the previous issue that we would be getting a Year One story. Frankly, that idea can go either way. It could be really fantastic or a trash fire. Let’s jump into this issue and see where it takes us.
Supergirl #30 Review and *SPOILERS*
Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend
Art By: Kevin Maguire, Sean Parsons, Chris Sotomayor
Letters By: Tom Napolitano
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: May 8, 2019
*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*
I really love this book but the last issue did make me take a pause for a moment. Don’t get me wrong, the book is still a ton of fun to read and I have been anxiously awaiting the new issue. That being said, the last issue really did turn the speed up to 11 and not in a good way. I think it was pretty clear that the book suddenly rushed through the story that was being told until we got to a point near the end. I’m not really sure why this is the way things went but I wasn’t a big fan of it. That being said, the last issue was still pretty dang good and I’m looking forward to seeing where this new issue takes us so how about we just jump right in and see where it takes us.

Let's finish up our first story for Hawkman, where we see our hero figure out a way to take down Idamm and the Deathbringers once and for all and maybe...... maybe end the curse of resurrection that has plagued Carter for millennia........... probably not though since that's the character's shtick and all. In our previous issue, the Deathbringer-Hawk-Mechas were charging up to blast Earth to pieces and if that wasn't enough, Idamm also let Carter in on the fact that him and every other Deathbringer was immortal now and couldn't be stopped. Let's see how this all places out here and with that, hopefully get some more information about our baddies. Let's check it out.

While this is a brave new world for Jason Todd and what we've been seeing from these comics, this is also an opportunity for Scott Lobdell to dive back into everything he's written on the character and tie it all into what we're currently doing. So if you didn't read Red Hood and the Outlaws in the New 52, maybe you want to go back and do a little reading because boy is this heavy in the continuity...........joy.
