Dodge City is an attempt at bringing the sensibilities of sports manga to a western audience personal drama, themed teams, and an unreal obsession with a niche hobby that this time lands in the court of dodgeball.
The Amory Wars: Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV #11 Review
Story: Claudio Sanchez
Written by: Chondra Echert
Illustrated by: Rags Morales
Colored by: Emilio Lopez
Publisher: BOOM! Studios
Cover Price: $3.99
Review by: David Johnson
We didn't start the fire! It was always burning since the Writer's been yearning....and complaining about the failures of all of his past relationships. When things aren't working with the ladies I tend to pour myself a double scotch and put on some Van Morrison. Ryder decides he needs to destroy all of reality. I guess some people just handle rejection better than others.

Lumberjanes is a book that really got a lot of hype a year or so ago, but that seems to have died down a bit recently. Any comic book that lasts 50 issues, however, has to have something going on so it's about time I jump into this series and see what it's all about.

I was concerned the last issue that the big cliffhanger would lead to this issue retreading a lot of the same ideas and story beats, unfortunately, it seems I was correct. Shadows arrival kicks off the same discussion about if trust can be placed in the seemingly amnesia-afflicted Eggman and if his kindly new Mr. Tinker persona should be punished for the crimes of his past self.

Chris and Reggie's Cosmic Treadmill ep. 96 - Excalibur #1 (1988)
'Allo, Love
Cheerio, comics enthusiasts! In this episode, Anglophiles Chris
(@AceComics) and Reggie (@reggie) head over to jolly old England when
they read Chris Claremont and Alan Davis' Excalibur #1, published by
Marvel Comics in 1988! After introducing the creators and the team of
muties, they go through the entire issue, mangling all sorts of accents
along the way. After a break, the blokes wrap up Claremont's and Davis'
biographies, and then tell the tortured tale of Marvel's European
publishing arm for many decades, Marvel UK! This episode is more filling
than a steak and kidney pie, you don't want to miss it!

Here it is, folks—the penultimate issue of
Brian Michael Bendis’ Man of Steel!
You know, issue #5 of John Byrne’s Man of
Steel, from 1986, is my favorite of that miniseries—the one with Bizarro,
who plays an interesting role in the lives of Lois and Lucy Lane…I won’t spoil
it in case you haven’t read it. Thing is, that issue, and that series in
general, served to let Superman fans know what was being kept and what was
being excised from post-Crisis on
Infinite Earths continuity. Is the current series doing much the same
thing? Ehh…not quite. But it is doing stuff, and some of it reads pretty well.
See what I think in my review, right here!

Someone’s really got to come up with a theme
song for the Darkstars. Something peppy but still with that hard edge, like the
theme from Orgazmo. “You wanna be a Darkstarrrrrr…but you ain’t no Darkstarrrrr…”
I’m only good for lyrics, someone more capable will have to work on the music.
While you do that, the rest of us can read my review for Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #47, which is below!

Say, it’s another issue of The Terrifics with Doc Shaner and Jeff Lemire at the helm! Lemire
is old hat, but I sure did like the dynamic way Shaner drew and plotted the
last issue. Though maybe Lemire had something to do with that, too! It’s tough
to say when they’re both labeled as “storytellers.” I like to imagine that they
make the comic together, sitting on a bench before a drawing board, drawing and
writing simultaneously as if they share one mind. You can’t prove I’m wrong
about this! Unless you are Doc Shaner or Jeff Lemire. Or probably anyone else
actually working on this series. Anyway, have a look at my review for issue #5
of The Terrifics, which is right
here!
Bane: Conquest #12 Review
Baby On Board
Art By: Graham Nolan, Gregory Wright, Carlos M. Mangual
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: June 27, 2018
It's the end of our year long Bane adventure and while I would like to say that it was worth every penny along the way...... it did hit some speed bumps that sometimes made the story a little less than enjoyable. Overall though, I'm happy that I had this distraction in my life because when it hit, it hit hard and I ended up laughing out loud a bunch of times throughout this series and every now and again I love not having to deal with any real continuity to a story. I went into this like I would have as a young kid reading Batman right after Knightfall and that was enough for me. I just wish that every issue was perfect throughout because even though we're dealing with a pretty contained story, where Bane is trying to take down Kobra, it didn't always read great as you went along. Hopefully, that's not the case here and we can end this story on a high note. Let's jump into this issue and check it out.

Ya know, if I were a betting man... I'd have put it all on this 12-Issue Limited Series "quietly" being retrofitted into a 6-issue Limited Series. Guess it's a good thing I don't bet!
Let's get to it... Raven, Trigon, Sassycat... oh my!

Before reading this I was hopeful that this wouldn't feel as "jam-packed" as some of the other
Mother Panic has been, from the very start the most "linear" of the Young Animal line. There is always an A-to-B progression with very little in the way of psychedelics. Now, I wonder... will this hinder or help when it comes to truncating the remainder of this volume into the next three issues?
Well, I guess I could ask that... if, ya know... these weren't always planned to be six-issue series'.
Ahem.

Cover Price: $3.99

This book should be good. It has a cool concept with the thousands and thousands of different strings, it has mech suits, and it has family conflict. So why isn't it good? Why does it have to force that conflict over and over again? Why do the characters seem to progress a little bit one issue, only to go right back to the way they've always been the next issue? I had high hopes for this series coming in, but my thoughts on it have steadily declined since the start. Maybe, just maybe, this final issue will change my mind a bit, but I wouldn't count on it. Let's take a peak in, shall we?

It’s the first issue since Rebirth that Batgirl’s being written by someone other than Hope Larson! Except for that one two-parter, way back. I know I had my criticisms, and wasn’t very generous with the scoring, but I’d like Hope to know that I did have fun with the run, after I came to accept the character as presented instead of as expected, and I thank her for it. But now, a new challenger enters the Bat-Arena! Let’s find out how he did in my review for Batgirl #24, commencing now!

There's a monster running around Neo Gotham and from what we saw at the end of the previous issue, this monster looks like Batman. Let's hope that in a world that may or may not still exist outside of our main city since Brother Eye's attack that Batman doesn't become public enemy #1 as the city's populace starts crying monster in the night, while our hero just tries to do his best to take care of futuristic villains. Let's jump into this issue and check it out.
Wonder Woman #49 Review

It's time to continue our battle against the Dark Gods, where in our previous issue, Jason was doing his best to fend off the Pantheon, but his best just wasn't good enough. Thankfully, by the end of the issue, Wonder Woman returned from Zamoran and started putting her style of beat down on the gods, but will it be enough? Let's jump into this issue and see if our sister and brother duo can stand up against the Dark Gods........... and maybe hopefully, make this story a bit interesting because as of right now, it's kind of flat. Let's check it out.
