Artist: Piotr Kowalski
Publisher: IDW Publishing
Release Date: June 13, 2018
Cover Price: $3.99
Review by: Pauly P

I’ll be honest: I haven’t read any of the Five previous issues of 30 Days of Night. I had no idea what I was jumping into when I volunteered to review it for the site. How does it do for a new reader to jump into? Let’s check it out and see if we can make sense of it.

Review by: Wheezy

You would be hard pushed to find people who didn’t experience Ducktales with a sense a fondness, I am hoping this issue would bring me similar joy from the franchise it did all those years ago, and it had 2 stories in this one, so the odds were in my favor. Let's find out.

Back to the Future: Tales From The Time Train #6 Review

Story: Bob Gale and John Barber
Art: Megan Levens
Colours: Charlie Kirchoff
Letters: Shawn Lee
Reviewed by Wheezy

Having read the previous five issues to catch up to this one, the payoff was underwhelming but expected. The old switcheroo that took up an entire issue between two dogs, and the Nazis that were used for the generic baddies and a cameo from Albert Einstein all gets wrapped up nicely with a bow on it and the warnings from the first issue about disrupting the time stream seem to be forgotten about. I think enjoyment is all relative, let's find out.

Atomic Robo: Spectre of Tomorrow Collected TP Review

Writer: Brian Clevinger
Art: Scott Wegener
Colors: Anthony Clark
Letters: Jeff Powell

Atomic Robo is one of those creations of the indie scene that seems to of seen enough success that it has allowed the creators to continue to publish new adventures but never quite reaching the wider recognition that a lot of its fans (myself included) believe it deserves.

The Dead Hand #3 Review

London Calling

 Written by: Kyle Higgins
Art by: Stephen Mooney

Letters by: Clayton Cowles

Publication Date: 13 June 2018

The Dead Hand has been a thrilling ride over the first two issues, bringing us deep into the heart of intrigue and mystery linked to the Cold War. The last issue saw things take a dramatic twist, and the settled state of life in Mountain View became a little bit precarious. Let's see how issue 3 was.

You know that scene in Hondo where John Wayne asks the six-year-old he's standing fishing with, "Whaddya mean ya can't swim, what age are ya" and the little cute kid looks up and says, "Six". The Duke's eyes pop out of his head and he exclaims, "six!" and grabs the kid and chucks him straight into the river. Wayne shouts, "pull the water towards you and kick!". The kid arrives safely on the other side of the river, "look at me, Maw! I can swim!!". That's how this book starts you off, it doesn't teach you gently, it throws you right into the comic book river like Hondo. So let's pull the water towards us and kick our legs!

Analog #3 Review

Vet Sounds

Written by: Gerry Duggan
Art by: David O'Sullivan
Colors by: Jordie Bellaire
Letters by: Joe Sabino
Publisher: Image Comics
Publication Date: 13 June 2018

One of my favorite bits of movie dialogue is when Woody Allen's character in Manhattan touches on the subject of Nazis at a fancy reception he is attending. Issac, his character, asks the question, "Has anybody read that Nazis are going to march in New Jersey, you know? We should go there, get some guys together, you know, get some bricks and baseball bats and really explain things to them", his partner's friend adds, "There was this devastating satirical piece on that on the op-ed page of the Times. It is devastating." Isaac counters, "Well, a satirical piece in the Times is one thing, but bricks and baseball bats really gets right to the point." Not convinced his interlocutor suggests that "really biting satire is always better than physical force." Then Isaac (Allen) delivers the killer comedic line, "No, physical force is always better with Nazis. It’s hard to satirize a guy with shiny boots."

Cover Price: $3.99
Review by: Dispatchdcu (go read all his awesome reviews!)

So what happened during this issue of Mister Miracle? That’s a really great question that hopefully, we can answer by the time we’re done discussing it. I’ll be the first to admit that I want a straightforward story that’s not confusing, complex, or complicated. And without a doubt, this story is confusing and overly complex. No one can doubt that. No one can argue that they totally understand what’s happening in this story either.

Chris and Reggie's Cosmic Treadmill ep. 94 - Godzilla vs. Barkley #1 (1993)

This Is My House to Step On

Game on, comics enthusiasts! In this episode, fast breakers Chris (@AceComics) and Reggie (@reggiereggie) take it to the key when they read Dark Horse Comics' Godzilla vs. Barkley #1 by Mike Baron and Jeff Butler from 1993! After some biographical information on the creators--and Charles Barkley and Godzilla--they dribble through every page of this humorous and possibly unfactual comic book. After a break, they continue to describe the illustrious careers of these characters, and provide a bibliography of every appearance of Godzilla in comics! It's a slam dunk of an episode, don't miss it!

DC Comics Best Covers of the Week: June 13, 2018

There Will Be Covers

When I am going through the cover images for a given week of DC Comics, I have learned not to bypass certain images in hopes of finding a better one later. I can always whittle down a smaller subset if it goes over my somewhat arbitrarily determined list of five. And, more often than not, there are no better covers forthcoming. Food for thought!

Mister Miracle #9 Review

What a Tweest!

Written by: Tom King

Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: June 13, 2018

After war comes peace. The bloody battles that waged across New Genesis and Apokolips have come to an end, and now Mister Miracle and Kalibak must sit down and discuss a truce. Can Scott Free trust the former minions of Darkseid to keep their word? Not likely, but a leader sometimes has to take a risk in service to the greater good. Perhaps the more pressing question, though, is whether Big Barda can make it through the negotiations without beating the life out of the assassin Kanto.

Release Date: June 13, 2018

The Immortal Men #3 Review

Like Towelie, I Have No Idea What's Going On

Writer: James Tynion IV
Art Team: Ryan Benjamen, Richard Friend
DC Comics
Release Date: June 13, 2018
Cover Price: $2.99

I'll just say it ... the Immortal Men has struggled out of the gate story wise to do anything of substance with all these new characters. Other than assigning everyone either the role of Hero or Villain thus far what we have is an overcrowded cast of characters, I can barely recall the names of most issues, that I'm losing interest in at record speed.  So that brings us to issue three, where I guess we're reaching the halfway point of this arc. Let's see if something finally happens I can care about going forward.

In issue one we met the antagonist, in issue two we learned what he did to make him so antagonistic, so logically the third issue should be…the antagonist making waffles? Imagine your superpower was to create nuclear fission—a mushroom cloud atomic explosion, therefore—with your body. You could only use it once, so you’d really be a walking case of Mutually Assured Destruction with every other nuke-having power in the world. I think this would be useful to force peaceful accord, or at least get a few bucks out of the deal. Caroline didn’t even do that before she went all radioactive! Let’s see what she did get up to in Eternity Girl #4, which I’ve reviewed, as follows!

Batman: Prelude to the Wedding: Batgirl vs. The Riddler #1 Review

A Cinderella Story

Written by: Tim Seeley
Art by: Minkyu Jung, Jose Marzan Jr., Jordie Bellaire
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: June 13, 2018
Cover Price: $3.99

We're entering deep into the heart of tie-in country for the third VS one shot leading to the upcoming wedding issue in Batman #50. I've personally had an alright time with moments of the previous two VS issues. That's mostly because I get to see Batman and his family members interact, who've been largely ignored throughout most of King's run. Instead, he's been spotlighting Catwoman repeatedly, to the point I'm shocked King himself isn't writing that title when it releases its new #1 shortly. Anyway, let's peek in on how Barbara and the Riddler, complete with question mark carved into his chest, are taking the news of the Bat/Cat Wedding. Join me.

Wonder Woman #48 Review

#JasonProblems

Written By: James Robinson
Art By: Jesus Merino, Romulo Fajardo Jr., Saida Temofonte
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: June 13, 2018

Well we had ourselves a bit of an exposition dump in last week's Wonder Woman Annual, where we learned all about why the Dark Gods are here and which ones they are.  So with that, let's hope that we can just get right into this story and have something pretty epic told to us........ Also, that Wonder Woman is able to return from Zamoran in time to save the world before the Dark Pantheon goes and makes it just like their world in the Dark Multiverse.  Let's jump into this Jason-centric issue and see if the brother of Wonder Woman is able to hold his own when his sister is away.  Let's check it out.
