It's time to continue our battle against the Dark Gods, where in our previous issue, Jason was doing his best to fend off the Pantheon, but his best just wasn't good enough. Thankfully, by the end of the issue, Wonder Woman returned from Zamoran and started putting her style of beat down on the gods, but will it be enough? Let's jump into this issue and see if our sister and brother duo can stand up against the Dark Gods........... and maybe hopefully, make this story a bit interesting because as of right now, it's kind of flat. Let's check it out.
For our penultimate issue to this arc, we see a world turned upside down by the Dark Gods.......... Well, we see four people from different parts of the world and see how their individual worlds have been turned upside down, besides for that though, we're just kind of told about how crazy everything has been getting, while Wonder Woman spends half an issue punch and lifting a giant rock monster god. Yeah, it doesn't sound that interesting and you know what? It's not.
Somehow we have this big story that has encompassed the whole world and forced the government to call in every superhero that they can to stand against it and maybe it's because we're just simply told these things and never actually see it that this story feels small as hell and that's ridiculous to me.
All in all, Jesus Merino's art is the one thing that shines in this issue because everything else story wise is just pretty boring and even our cliffhanger, which is supposed to "wow" us, just comes out of nowhere and I'm just left wondering why. Hopefully the final issue to this arc can bring everything together, but really, there doesn't seem to be anything that can bring this Dark Gods story, which I was really excited for back from the dead.
Bits and Pieces:
While the art in this issue is great........... that's about the only thing here that is. The story is boring and somehow James Robinson has turned what should be a world conquering epic story into something that feels small and I have no idea how he pulled it off. There just isn't much to like here and for what the story could have been, that's a shame.
4/10
