Now that we can put Ungara behind us and all of its nonsense, it's time to get to our cliffhanger of last issue, where we saw Simon's former hookup, Night Pilot being enslaved by an alien race to mine for ore in an asteroid field.  I knew dating sucked for superheroes, but I didn't realize how bad it had gotten.  Let's jump into this issue and see if Simon and Jessica can find the missing Night Pilot and if she's willing to go for another date.  Let's check it out.

Explain It!:

Our issue begins with our Lantern heroes just being heroes as they're joined by an assortment of people who don't get a bunch of page play and right away........ it's fun.  We've got Firestorm, Blue Beetle, Power Girl, Supergirl and Bulleteer and while this is fun, it moves on right away when Bulleteer informs Simon that she's friends with Night Pilot and that she hasn't been seen in days.  With that, Simon decides that it's time to start a full investigation into his lost hookup and now that Jessica knows about this superhero dating app, she's decided that it's about time that she got back into the game........ especially since this app might pair her up with Nightwing.

After going to the Watchtower and getting Cyborg on the case, Simon and Vic establish that a lot of small town heroes have gone missing as well and thankfully, since Jessica is now obsessed with the app, she realizes what all of them have in common.  With that, Simon and Jessica go to Capers, who put the app out and after a bit of dialog that just makes fun of comics and nerds, we finally see that Scrapps from the Omega Men is somehow involved and has been posing as Caper's mascot statue....... yeah, I don't know how long she's been there, but she was there and somehow she's involved.

In the end, we head off into space and see Night Pilot locked up in a cell, where she talks to her neighbor who's called "The Bearer of Bad News" and the two talk about what their captors have had them doing.  Yeah, it seems that the villains behind this have been kidnapping superheroes to use them for manual labor and now it's up to our Green Lanterns to shut them down.

That's it for this issue of Green Lanterns and while some of the story got a little over the top ridiculous with all the commentary on superhero stories and how convoluted they are, the rest of the issue was a bit of fun that actually brought a smile to my face for how simple it was and how the dialog actually felt natural between our two Lantern heroes.  Yeah, it brought Omega Men into continuity, which I would have just left out there by itself, but it is what it is and I can't fault it for that.  I really enjoyed the art in this issue and I loved seeing all the heroes that Tim Seeley decided to throw into this because we definitely don't get to see these heroes shine together like we used to in the Pre-Flashpoint continuity and it was just a nice touch.  All in all, this isn't a "wow, knock your socks off" issue, but it brought a smile to my face at times and it brought some fun.

Bits and Pieces:

While the dating app plot and silly character moments won't make this "a story for the ages" or any nonsense like that, what it will do is bring a bit of fun into this book that was very appreciated.  I really enjoyed the art and find myself surprised how much I can't wait to get back to this next issue because I can at least count on this book to bring a smile to my face and give me some excellent artwork.
