Injustice 2 #18 Review

Animal Behavior

Writer: Tom TaylorArtist: Daniel SamperePublisher: DC ComicsRelease Date: August 9, 2017Cover Price: $0.99

It’s been somewhat of a long trip, though enjoyable none the less, but we finally seem to be in the meat of this story or at least getting to it. We have team Bat (or should I say team Barbara?) catching on to Ra’s and his teams plan and looking to make a move. It’s not exactly apparent that this is leading to the ultimate showdown itself, but the ride so far has been infinitely enjoyable. So now that Team Bat has made a move and looks to enter Ra’s’ underground encampment will the story continue being great or will it take another Supergirl-esque sidestep? Find out after the jump.

Writer: Tom Taylor

Go, Go Justice Rangers!!!

Well look at what we have here folks.  Justice League/Power Rangers decided to return to local comic shelves this week, a mere 3 months since its last issue pulling a Dark Knight III: Master Race on us all, returning like the ex-girlfriend we were all too happy to see return after leaving us high and dry in the past. I even forgot to get my review up last night because it was that out of my mind.  However we’re not here to debate the release schedule of titles, we’re here to review them … so let’s get down to business, try to remember what happened in issue #4, and see if issue #5 reignites the passion for this series.

Put on Your Recap

Written by: Joshua Williamson
Art by: Carmine Di Giandomenico, Hi-Fi and Steve Wands
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: August 9, 2017

Here we go, Barry Allen has Negative Speed Force powers...or does he?  I know one guy who wears an eye patch and a headband that wasn't so sure and while I usually would blame him for being a dummy, I kind of blame Williamson a bit more.  It did seem like Barry's Negative Powers may have dissipated, but it now looks like that isn't the case.  So, I am excited to see what it all means to Barry and everyone else.  Is it good?  Let's find out...

Do You Want to Know a Secret?

Written by: James Tynion IV
Art by: Alvaro Martinez, Raul Fernandez, Brad Anderson and Sal Cipriano
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: August 9, 2017

I have enjoyed the Intelligence story overall, but I did say last issue that things were starting to seem stretched out a bit.  Maybe it is the twice a month shipping or trying to make it fit into a full trade, but things felt a bit more padded.  I still have enjoyed it and have been looking forward to this finale for two weeks.  So now that it's here, how was it...

**NON SPOILERS AND SCORE AT THE BOTTOM**

Last week, I reviewed New Gods Special #1 and confessed that the Fourth World is not my favorite Jack Kirby stuff. Well, I have another confession, right here in the introduction: the Newsboy Legion is one of my favorite Jack Kirby (and Joe Simon) creations! I love the Golden Age stuff, I love when they teamed up with Jimmy Olsen in the 1970s, and I loved when they were Cadmus-generated clones right around the time of Superman’s death…his first death…his first real death…never mind. Point is, I am jazzed for this comic book! So let’s stop jawing about it, and check out my review of Newsboy Legion/Boy Commandos Special #1, right here!

Okay, the Superman Revenge Squad has been put down and now it's time to get into another bit of action, only this time we've got Rob Williams and Guillem March driving the adventure forward.  There isn't much to say to get you ready for this comic except that Superman's had a pretty hard time lately with everything he's been dealing with and now he's got the move to Metropolis to worry about now that things have finally calmed down.  Yeah, that's about it.  Let's jump into this issue and see what this creative team has in store for us.  Let's check it out.

Supergirl #12 Review

The Furious Me

Written by: Steve Orlando
Art by: Robson Rocha, Daniel Henriques, Micheal Atiyeh and Steve Wands
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: August 9, 2017

I am a big Supergirl fan...just not a fan of this particular book.  It kills me because while I would love to overlook it's shortcomings and just enjoy Kara and the gang, I can't.  The dialogue and art has been subpar and the stories just haven't been good.  Well, with a new arc and new artist (Robson Rocha) starting up, hope springs eternal.  Can this be the issue where it all comes together and I can start recommending it to all the kids down at the rec center?  Let's find out...

Red Hood and the Outlaws #13 Review and *SPOILERS*

Flowers For Bizarro

Written By: Scott Lobdell
Art By: Dexter Soy, Veronica Gandini, Taylor Esposito
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: August 9. 2017

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

Bizarro has sure been working himself into a frenzy lately and after learning that his body was dying from all the stress he was putting on it, maybe fighting Solomon Grundy in the last issue wasn't the best thing for him......... Yeah, it actually ended up killing him, but thankfully, Lex Luthor showed up on the scene and electrocuted the hell out of Red Hood and Artemis so that he could take a closer look at his former science experiment and it's hopefully here where we'll see him bring our favorite misunderstood hero back to life.  Let's jump into this issue and see if Lex continues being the hero that I love him being or if he starts falling back on old habits and becomes a heel.  Let's check it out.

Titans #14 Review and *SPOILERS*

Et Tu, Pizza

Written By: Dan Abnett
Art By: Brett Booth, Norm Rapmund, Andrew Dalhouse, Josh Reed
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: August 9, 2017

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

Oh, there's a traitor in the Titans and it's time to find out who!  Previously, we saw Omen visit Psimon at Rikers Island Prison, where she learned of a traitor among them and that there's a darkness coming that apparently she's the omen for........ but all of the Titans are omens in my mind after dealing with everything that got this series started in Titans Hunt so I don't worry too much about things like omens and what they may mean........ especially since darkness has been foretold since Rebirth began.  Anyway, let's jump into this issue and find out who our traitor is so hopefully we can whoop their asses and get back on the hunt for Bumblebee's stolen memory.  Let's check it out.

Let It Bee

Art By: Roge Antonio, Breno Tamura, Allen Passalaqua, Chris Sotomayor, Josh Reed
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: August 9, 2017

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

It's time to get to the finale of this arc and find out if the Birds of Prey can stop Poison Ivy before she tears apart all of Terracare and possibly Calculator's family in the process.  You'll recall from the previous issue that Poison Ivy had Catwoman steal a vial from Terracare that the company desperately wants back, but since Catwoman had already given the vial to Poison Ivy, it seemed like it was up to Black Canary and Huntress to get Calculator's family back by using a little undercover finesse.  Yeah, that didn't quite work out though because Poison Ivy was already doing a little undercover work herself within Terracare and after discovering something, she went berserk.  Let's jump into this issue and see how the Birds of Prey handle this situation.

Mister Miracle #1 Review

I Believe in Miracles

Written by: Tom King
Art by: Mitch Gerads and Clayton Cowles
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: August 9, 2017

I am not a fan of the New Gods or Mr. Miracle in particular, but I am excited to become one.  Yes, I am putting a whole lot on Tom King's shoulders, but I've seen pictures of him on Twitter and I think he's strong enough to support me.  Sure, I do like to visit a buffet now and again and really love fast food, but I try to stay in as good a shape as a man my age can.  I mean, I haven't run a marathon, but I play basketball on the reg and stay as active as a comic book reviewer can.  Okay, enough about my eating and exercise, let's get on with the review...
