Cry Darkseid and Let Slip The Hunger Dogs of War

It's time to head back to Apokolips and see how the Superman family will get out of the danger that Lex put them in by claiming he was the prophesied savior of that world way back in the Darkseid War. In our previous issue, we saw Lex out himself as a fraud by giving the people of Apokolips their actual savior, Superman and also, we saw Lois Lane become one of Granny's Female Furies...... Yeah, the Fury bit went on a little long, but all in all, it was still an awesome issue which led us here so without further delay, let's jump into this and see how Jon's faring on this hellish world. Let's check it out.
Explain It!:
Our issue begins with Superman trying to get him and Lex the hell out of dodge because now that the people of Apokolips have actually seen their true savior.......... they aren't about to just let him leave. Thankfully, they manage to get away after a bit of a fight, where Superman just bitched Luthor out for being such a damn dick and it's when we leave this section that things really pick up in the book because we see Jon alone and scared on a strange world....... and surrounded by Dog Cavalry, who are being forced to eat their own steeds to stay strong. Yeah, even though Jon is scared as hell, he's not about to let that go down and ends up freeing all the Hunger Dogs........ who in turn see Jon as a friend and are sticking with him and helping him track his parents down.
As for Luthor and Clark........... well, their time on Apokolips isn't going so well because while Luthor tries to explain himself and his actions, Kalibak gets the better of the two and we move on to see how the son of Darkseid is looking for his father.......... by shooting the chaos cannon into the core of the planet....... because he's a goddamn numb skull. Yeah, I'm pretty sure the chaos cannon was destroyed way back in Batman and Robin, but it's here and no matter how many people tell Kalibak that doing this is idiotic because there's no way that Darkseid is at the planet's core, he keeps on firing to the point where the planet might erupt. Thankfully, Granny and her Furies show up and start a fight, which allows Superman to get the jump on Kalibak and destroy the chaos cannon, but Kalibak isn't going down without a fight and he's getting kind of tired of people calling him a moron so he figures if he can't have the Darkseid's throne, then no one can and proceeds to fire the cannon at the core once more, which actually snuffs out all the fire pits on the planet.
In the end, Kalibak somehow gets the better of Superman and has him by the throat and for some reason, Lois thinks she can do something about it, but the day can still be saved because off in the distance, Jon rides in on his pack of Hunger Dogs looking to save his parents.
That's it for this issue of Superman and besides for me thinking that the chaos cannon should be destroyed at this point, not to mention that it shouldn't have a fuel source, this issue is fun as hell and it's weird because where I was complaining about getting too much Lois last issue and not enough of Superman and Lex........ I actually wanted to see everything besides for Superman and Lex this issue because there wasn't a lot going on in their scenes except for Luthor filling Superman in on everything we already know. So yeah, Jon's the star of the show this issue and the characters on Apokolips really shine here, which is cool as hell and I find myself actually caring about the power struggle going on as where before I just wanted to see what part Superman would play as being the prophesied savior. Not anymore, give me Kalibak, Granny and all the unique sects of Apokolips because that's becoming the really interesting part of this book and because of the awesome art in this issue, I'm ready for what's to come next.
Bits and Pieces:
Everyone gets a moment to shine this issue, but none brighter than Jon who takes center stage here as all our stories are coming together with a huge cast of Apokolips' worst driving the narrative forward. The art in this issue is great and I can't wait to see what this arc gives us next because I'm jut have a ton of fun.

I don't know a lot about the characters of Apokolips, but it doesn't matter because I am still able to follow this story. I am really enjoying what is going on in this book so far. I think it is brilliant to have a 'good' Lex because there is almost a suspense for me, just waiting to see if he'll show an evil side.
