Barry is off to Iron Heights and while that sucks for him, I'm hoping we get so good Flash action.  Plus, we got the promise of getting more Wally West in the book and that's fine with me.  So, how does this arc start off?  Let's find out...

The issue starts with Barry and Wally running together and Joshua Williamson uses some Speed Force Storm info to explain how the two running can help Barry with the Negative Speed Force.  I wish he would tell us what the hell the Negative Speed Force does first!

We get a quick scene with some villains including Black Spider and while it isn't mind blowing, it's some fun...something that has been missing from this book.  After some quick Teen Titans and Lazarus Contract catchup, Barry and Wally head off to work and school.

When Barry and Kristen get to Iron Heights, they meet up with Warden Wolfe and he is a real hardass that obviously hates the Flash.  After they are shown to their cell, I mean office, a fight breaks out and we get to the good stuff!

The fight is between Godspeed and Heatwave and if that isn't cool enough, it's a who's who of villains in the crowd surrounding them.  Wolfe seems intent to let it all play out and after sending in his shock troopers, isn't in the mood to answer questions.  I do really want to know why the Rogues are dressed in their costumes!  The scene ends with Barry taking to low road and agreeing with Wolfe that anyone in Iron Heights deserves to be there forever.

We then go off to see that a lot of the recent troubles in this book have been because of Copperhead and her organization.  She's having problems with another mysterious villain and by the end of the issue, I think we see who that is.  It's not a shock, but it's very personal to Barry.

This was an okay issue of Flash that sets up some pretty cool things.  The thing that has me most excited isn't the cliffhanger, but the beginnings of Wolfe dealing with Flash.  The art in this issue was pretty good and it all comes together as something I can't fully recommend, but have hopes for it improving.

Bits and Pieces:

Joshua Williamson starts a new arc and while some of this series' old problems stick around, I want to see what happens from this point on.

6.5/10

  1. Brief review or just seems to be due to the lack of images.

  2. God, the first few pages, "Fast friends coming thru!" were corny as fuuuuu.

Got better in Iron Heights, but Warden Wolfe is so over the top.

I'm intrigued though. Better than Bloodwork already.
