Best DC Comics Covers of the Week 10/18/17

Do or Duotone. There is No Try

Hey hey! Yet another week has made it to Wednesday, aka New Comic Book Day, and that means another week of swell comic book covers by DC Comics! Not to say the other comics publishers didn't have swell covers, I don't cover those. But you can take it on my authority that DC's got the best covers in the biz. Don't believe me? Check out my list and see for yourself!

Green Lanterns #33 variant
Brandon Peterson
I liked the regular cover to this issue, too, but this more fleshed-out image reminiscent of the statue of Atlas in Rockefeller Center won the fifth slot on the list. It, uh, just looks cool is all. Good form, great coloring, a pretty picture for your peepers.

Superman #33
Ryan Sook
I present to you your movie poster. There's a ton of stuff going on here, and I want to know about all of it. Superman looming over Super-Luthor, using his white-S chest piece as a focal point, makes for a great center. Also Jon Kent in goggles? That's a great addition to the costume.

Batwoman #8 variant
Michael Cho
If you want to get Reggie's attention for this weekly list of the best of the best of the best, then render your cover in two-colors. It's really eye-catching and stark when done well, and in this instance it's done really well. Heck, Kate seems like a fun person here, which is sort of a bait-and-switch in terms of how she's presented in the comic book.

Batman #33
Joelle Jones
Chunky Batman rearing back on a chunkier horse is a fine enough image as is. Sort of reminiscent of the Dark Knight Returns, and he's even carrying over the goggles motif from the cover of this week's Superman. But the background patter and logo treatment just sends me to the stratosphere. This thing looks like it should be woven into a tapestry.

Trinity #14 variant
Bill Sienkiewicz
Bill Sienkiewicz is one of the best artists in the game with a pedigree longer than your list of comic book complaints. He does creepy like no other. I don't know what the deal is with the dueling monster Supermen, but I'm sure interested to find out. I could also make my own story...let's say Superman is tripping out on peyote. Done and done!
