*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

While the last issue of Superman was something that I couldn't wait for when it was announced, after reading it, it seems that the only reason to actually get the issue was for the cliffhanger, where Superman allowed Parallax to take him as its host and Sinestro showing up to take back what he feels is rightfully his.  Hopefully, there's more to this issue now that Sinestro and Parallax in the body of Superman have to duke it out to see who truly is the master of fear.  Let's jump into this issue and see how Superman comes out of this one.  Let's check it out.

Explain It!:

Our issue begins with Parallax just going to town on Sinestro, but before too long, the Weaponers of Qward show up and transport Sinestro and Parallax to the Anti-Matter Universe, where the Weaponers subdue Super-Parallax and then Sinestro takes our hero to the icy core of the planet, where he plans to extract the Fear Entity.

During the extraction, Superman tries to make it clear to Sinestro that Parallax has left his body, but the Korugarian isn't about to listen and with that, we see all the fears that Superman has as we waste page time to find out that he's afraid that he won't be there to save people, that Lois might die, that Jon might resent him for spending too much time as Superman instead of being his father.......... you know, pretty standard stuff, but eventually, we get back to the story when we see that Parallax is hopping between bodies of the Weaponers as it tries to make its escape away from Sinestro.

In the end, Superman breaks himself free of Sinestro's construct and finds him weakened from battling Parallax and because of his earlier dealing with Hal Jordan from Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps.......... and while this issue hasn't been much so far, it goes right off the damn reservation when Superman puts on Sinestro's ring and then uses hope to suck Parallax within it........... yeah, this bit doesn't make a lick of sense and our issue quickly ends when Sinestro and Lyssa Drak leave the Anti-Matter Universe and Superman is sent back by the Weaponers after giving a classic Superman speech about doing the right thing.

That's it for this issue of Superman and where I hoped that everything would fall into place for an amazing issue because of how lackluster the previous one was, this too didn't have a lot going on for it, which is crazy with the premise of Parallax being in Superman and taking on Sinestro........... seems like a no fail situation, but still it found a way by showing us fears of Superman just to take up page space and then having the Yellow Lantern ring work in a way that it never should before being wrapped up in a "ra-ra" speech.  With all that going against the book already, we had dull looking colors and a boring story progression with the panel layouts.

Bits and Pieces:

With a premise that seemed like it was impossible not to be cool, this issue went and found a way to be boring as shit, while also showing us that you can use hope to harness a yellow ring's power.  Yeah, there's not much to like in this issue because Superman can just do anything and overcome any scenario, whether it makes sense or not and with all that, the colors were rather dull here too.

5/10

  1. I liked this a lot more than that but I don't have the Lanterns issues with it that you do. To me it almost felt like Parallax willingly went with Supes to get the F away from Sinestro, who's clearly power mad, why I'm not sure, but it worked for me enough. Hey I don't read the Lantern titles and want to see what happens w Parallax so they got me there at least 7.5ish
