It has arrived the conclusion to The Trial of the Seven Masters. Will Danny Rand survive? Can he possibly beat The Wolf? Will Choshin pay for his crimes or will the murder of Hark, Danny's guide, be blamed on Danny? It's time to find out.
We open with a gorgeous Mike Perkins art work. Each panel in this beginning sequence is truly splash page worthy. Danny is making his way from the rain forest to the council's temple. The acquired Chi from all his challengers just flowing off him. Melting a blade simply touched to his skin in mock intimidation. Iron Fist flings the doors to the council chambers open. Only to be greeted by Choshin's inflammatory accusations of murder. Danny brought the honorable Rabbit of Holy Flame to corroborate his story. Choshin is the guilty one. It was his men that killed Hark by his orders, but ain't nobody got time for that.
Because The Wolf, Danny's Final Challenge, beneath his nondescript monk robe is a huge muscle upon sinewy muscle ex K'un-Lun fighter. He is a runner up contestant to the first Iron fist position. He is known as The One, but really he was always number two. After kicking the crap out of Danny The One gets to cocky and let's Danny have some recovery time. Making Choshin act and have 3 arrows shot into Danny's chest.
The One Wolf enraged by this dishonorable ending chokes Choshin then has him imprisoned. Surprisingly, Danny is determined to finish the fight. The One Wolf having figured his next punch would be the killing blow is caught off guard when Danny catches his punch. Danny beats the shit out of The One. No seriously, he has reason to poop himself unlike some fighters out there. The One is left as a puddle on the floor. He is NOT leaving a puddle on the floor he is the puddle on the floor.
Having proven himself, yet again, The Iron First to the good people of Liu-Shi they swear alliance. If Danny needs any help rebuilding K'un-Lun. If he is ever able to find it again. They will be there for him. Next Shang-Chi in "Masters of Kung-Fu.
Bits and Pieces:
Man this is a very enjoyable Kung-Fu comic. The art is just outstanding. Perkins fighting sequences and detail is superb. And I am officially a fan of Brisson. His 5 issues on Bullseye I really recommend also.
9.5/10
The only Marvel comic left on my pull list...
ReplyDeleteIf you like this you should pick up his Old Man Logan run that just started it's 2 issues in.
DeleteI've done a bit of OML, and I'm super ready for younger Logan to come back already...
