After 8 months of trying to find a cure for the M-Pox Beast discovers that there is not only no way to cure it, but that the Terrigen Cloud - which gives Inhumans their powers and is killing Mutants - is saturating into the earth, making it inhabitable for the Mutants leaving them only two choices: To leave earth or to lie down and Die. Or secret option 3 which has been planned out since the beginning: Fight.
We start off this issue with Beast calling a meeting for the leaders of Mutants across the planet. His news is grave, he failed his task and there is no time left. Jump over to New York, The Quiet Room. Black Bolt is watching the new act on the stage when he is informed that a VIP would like a minute of his time.
Swinging back over to the Mutant Council (that is what I will call them for most of this review) where Beast lays it on the line for them, the Terrigen Cloud will saturate into the earth making the earth uninhabitable for Mutants. Magneto Doesn't like the idea of sitting around idly while this happens, with two weeks left to live, or run away he brings up the plan that Emma Frost has been working on since Beast has been working on fixing the Terrigen problem.
She breaks it down as it happen:
She breaks down they will be going after Karnak, Medusa, Crystal, and Black Bolt the power centers of the Inhumans. They bring it to a vote: 4 for the attack, 1 against, and 1 abstention which means majority wins: The Mutants attack and try to take out the Terrigen Cloud before it takes out all of Mutantkind. Beast outraged by the decision decides he will go and warn the Inhumans on New Attilan, when Storm shocks him with lightning to stop his advanced warning.
Emma Frost takes out Black Bolt with the help of Lady Shine in his club in New York, Jean Grey takes Karnak off the table by trapping him in a mental prison, Magneto takes out Crystal on R.I.V., Fantomex takes out the teleporting dog. With most of the main players off of the board the Mutants go to New Attilan to attack Medusa and the Terrigen Cloud.
Bits and Pieces:
Wow, this book took me by surprise. I know my love for Jeff Lemire brought me into this book with high hopes that it would be good; but I didn't expect this. Amazing story, with phenomenal pacing and great art. Leaving you wanting to see what happens next.
