Spider-Man better watch out because Killer Thrill is coming for him and wants to use him as bait for Deadpool. So far, we’ve had an action-packed mini-series that has added some surprisingly good Venom moments and a little more backstory as to how Venom developed from the slightly angry black suit on Spider-Man to the hulking monster we all know. With one issue left, I was hoping for some answers, but really I just want to continue having a good time reading this book.
We jump right into Killer Thrill knocking Spider-Man out of the air and beginning her assault. Venom senses Spider-Man’s pain and springs into action. Deadpool and Venom take turns taking over and trying to figure out whether they want to save Spidey or go help torture him.
They crash through the window in full Venom mode, ready to crack some skulls. Killer Thrill and her gang use sonic guns to blow Venom off of Deadpool, and he finally gets to think for himself. But, Venom forms back to him before the fight is over and chomps off one of Killer Thrill’s arms.
She retreats and the pair turn their attention to Spider-Man. They can’t decide whether to help him or eat his brains. Eventually, the symbiote and Deadpool separate and Wade steps in front of Spider-Man to protect him. Deadpool convinces Venom to leave him alone, and Venom slinks away.
It turns out that Killer Thrill had been hired to get Venom by the Collector, and he still wants the suit. We end our series with Wade Wilson telling Eddie Brock to go into the church wear he watched Venom go. It turned out to be an awesome mini, and even showed the softer side of Deadpool. The art looked great throughout the series and it was a lot of fun to read.
Bits and Pieces:
Our mini-series has come to an end, and it was fun from start to finish. I can’t see any reason why a comic fan wouldn’t enjoy this book. Deadpool + Venom = Awesome.
