It's Thanksgiving Day here in the United States (of America), but that doesn't mean we have to stop the Best Covers of the Week train from rollin'! First, I'd like to specially thank the team on the cover for Detective Comics #945 for enticing us with a word balloon and a superhero accusation! Really evokes some of my favorite Silver Age comic book covers. Read on to see the best of the best of the best!

Detective Comics #945
Alvaro Martinez, Raul Fernandez, Brad Anderson
Blue Beetle #3
Scott Kolins
The suit's blue against the monsters' green, plus the juxtaposition of the lines in Blue Beetle's appendages and the yellow lines of his antagonists make for a really pleasing, well-balanced cover design.
Hellblazer #4 variant
Yasmin Putri
The composition of the regular cover for this issue was excellent, but the execution was lacking. This one is a lot cooler, plus Swamp Thing wearing clothes? I'll take more of that, please.
Batman Beyond #2 variant
Bernard Chang
Sheesh, this could almost be a movie poster, it's so striking. This cover proves Bernard Chang's mastery and versatility, not that it was in any doubt.
Batgirl #5 variant
Francis Manapul
Manapul is just incredible at making these instantly classic images that make for perfect poster material. This cover makes the purple suit look like it's been the only costume for decades, even though it's a relatively new look for the character.
Wonder Woman #11 variant
Liam Sharp & Laura Martin
Look deeply into Diana's eyes, and see...one scared-looking woman! The emotion coursing through Wonder Woman's baby blues is striking, and the fact that it's cropped so the face is almost life-size makes this captivating. I'd practice my kissing on this cover, except look at her. She's terrified. She needs cuddles.
Ummm.... the purple Batgirl costume is "a relatively new look for the character?" Obviously, you're not familiar with my work!
ReplyDeletelol...I am VERY familiar with it!
