DC Comics Best Covers of the Week 06/22/16
Alright, we are here once again to gawk at this week's covers and then yell at me about what you liked better. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I'm not talking about this guy below:
It's funny...the frequency of the Beholder is "Very Rare", yet every module that I ever made had at least eight of them in it! What can I say, I'm a sucker for the classics. Oh well, on with the DC Comics Best Covers of the Week...
COVER OF THE WEEK
Wonder Woman #1
Cover: Liam Sharp & Laura Martin
I love this cover! It really is a little Wonder Woman history lesson right here and the fact that Rebirth is throwing all that history into question makes it all the better. The best part for me is just having a strong and beautiful Wonder Woman front and center, right where she belongs. It's such an epic cover that makes you want to buy the comic book and if you do, you will find Liam Sharp's art only gets better inside.
RUNNERS-UP
Harley Quinn #29
Cover By: Amanda Conner & Alex Sinclair
I am a sucker for any cover that has word bubbles and throw in some toilet humor and a reference to "Clash of the Titans" and I am in! Seriously, Amanda Conner has probably thrown away a dozen cover drawings this week that are better than what we get on most books these days, so I love when she gets goofy and gives us something like this. Awesome art + a sense of humor = Jim very happy. And isn't that what this is all about?!?
Detective Comics #935
Cover by: Rafael Albuquerque
The last time I gave Rafael some cover kudo, it was an Eddy Barrows cover for Detective and I felt like a big schmuck. Never again! I love everything that Albuquerque does, but you let him draw Batwoman and something special happens! Seriously, every single time he draws Batwoman, we should be made to stare at it for a couple of hours and I guarantee the world would be a better place.
Action Comics #958
Cover by: Ryan Sook
Something about this cover just catches my eye. I think I've figured out what it is...It kicks ass! It's the perfect cover for this book, showing an amalgam Lex/Clark (Smith) Superman and I don't know about you, but I am fully on the Team Lex trolley. Just look at that glowing green "S" and that sexy bald head! That is a tough combo to beat, I'll tell you.
Alright, that is it for me this week, but I will see you in seven with another DC Comics Best Covers of the Week!
Love the Detective and Action covers the best . Bonus points to the Harley cover if that is the actual Kraken logo in the word bubble.
