*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*
In the last issue of Swamp Thing we saw the climax of Machine Queen's plan to take out The Green and in turn Swamp Thing. Using a mind controlled Sureen to open a portal to The Green, Anton Arcane given his powers back so that he could use The Rot to finally strike a fatal blow against the plant life on Earth, poisoned the Green and spread Rot across the Earth. It was bad news for our swampy Avatar, let's see if he can overcome this calamity and pull a Dr. Sam Beckett and put right what once went wrong.......... Or what's going wrong........ Let's check it out.

As John Stewart and his team try to root out the criminal network that has overtaken the homeworld of Lantern Feska, they discover the planet is imperiled by a far darker, deadlier force. An enemy with an ancient hatred of the Corps. An enemy that seeks to cast all the universe into shadow.
Even though I wasn't a big fan of the start of this story arc last month, I do have to admit that I'm really interested in finding out who and what the Shadow Empire really are. They were teased at the end of the Uprising story arc and I sat here waiting patiently for the answer when GODHEAD went and lasted three months. So yeah, the beginning was a bit rough for me but I do love seeing John Stewart kick some ass.

“The Infinitus Saga” continues as the team joins the Legion of Super-Heroes, a Thanagarian war fleet and a Rannian war fleet to battle the endless forces of Infinitus!
As much as I love all the characters in the JLU, I find myself bored with this Infinitus story arc. Every issue is just battles and time travel and adding more and more characters into the mix through time travel....... then they battle. Hopefully this issue comes through and is something that really catches my interest because of right now, I'm just waiting for the next story arc.

Batman: Eternal #44 Review
Written by: Ray Fawkes

Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: February 4, 2015
I have really enjoyed the last couple of issues of Baternal. There are a bunch of reasons, but the main one was the book finally got more focused and concluded one of the dangling plot threads. Sure, it was the Nanovirus one which wasn't my favorite, but it did have a heavy dose of Harper Row which I loved. It also caught the book up to the Batman #28 flash forward issue and for some reason, that was a big deal to me. Last week ended with a Haper Row/Stephanie Brown sleepover that looked like it was plucked right out of a John Hughes movie and that alone was awesome, but Stephanie made it crazy good by the end when she revealed who has been behind Gotham's troubles. She swore that Bruce Wayne is the real villain of Baternal. What What?!?! I don't think there is one person who believes that to be the case, but i couldn't wait until this week to see if we learn anything new. Unfortunately we don't learn much, but that's not the reason why this issue was a disappointment. No, there are other reasons.

The Kingdom Strike's Back
*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*
In the last issue we had a lot of fun as Green Arrow teamed up with Green Lantern as the two tried to stop John King's subjects from killing everyone in a hospital. As you'd imagine our heroes pulled it off but it wasn't all victory and RC Cola for them; no, our heroes had to deal with John King upping the stakes a bit when Green Arrow had a reward put out for his capture by the politicians of Seattle who apparently work for King as well. If that wasn't bad enough, King also got his hands on his daughter Mia and tortured Oliver's girlfriend/assistant.......... you know what? She probably has a better job title than assistant but that's what I'm going with...... anyway, King tortured Zehra into possibly becoming loyal to him. At the end of the issue we saw our favorite ring slinger exit the story, so let's see if our Emerald Archer can pull off taking down King with the rest of his team sans superpowers. Let's check it out.

Top 5 Fridays: Top New DC Comics Titles That I'm Looking Forward To In June
Today's news about the twenty four new titles coming to DC Comics after Convergence was just mind blowing. June is going to be a brave new world for our favorite heroes and the world they encompass and for some this may be a good thing and for others a bad thing. I'm in the middle right now because I hate to jump the gun and throw my emotions at something before I know anything about it........ That was old fanboy me,........ he was an asshole. With titles coming at us though like Prez, Black Canary, Mystic U, We Are Robin and possibly Starfire; it seems like DC is going for a younger audience with their approach to their books and I feel a little alienated as an older fan because of it. Hopefully it will do it's job and boost sales and bring in new readers because even though I feel left out with some of these titles, it doesn't mean that I want DC Comics to do poorly in the comic book industry........ It almost feels like we broke up but decided to stay friends........ and actually meant it. Not everything though came off as a weird choice for new titles to me and with this list I want to talk about those titles. Let's check out Top 5 Fridays: Top New DC Comics Titles That I'm Looking Forward To In June........... I just wish I had pictures for all of them.
DC Comics Announces 24 New Titles For June 2015
JUSTICE LEAGUE COVER, LOOKS LIKE THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GO DOWN |
As we expected as we moved closer to Convergence and to the Summer, DC has announced 24 new titles to add to their line-up of comics in the New 52, but that's not all, they've also dropped some comics. Pretty much, I have mixed feelings about it.

Superman #38 Review
Written by: Geoff Johns
Art by: John Romita Jr.
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: February 4, 2015
The "Men of Tomorrow" arc has been good, but I have to admit that I expected a whole lot more. I'm sure most people did when it was announced that Geoff Johns and John Romita Jr were at the helm, but the story of Ulysses (I prefer Neil, by the way) and Superman's friendship never felt as epic as the creative team seemed to want everyone to believe. Last issue, we finally got to see the nefarious plan of Ulysses and his fourth dimension cohorts and if anyone was surprised, I have some swampland in Florida to sell them. Of course, being predictable doesn't always mean being bad and I didn't mind watching Superman foil the plan or Ulysses destroy his home world. Of course, something like that doesn't happen in a vacuum and this issue is all about repercussions and fallout. It begins with a huge fight and ends with a questionable reveal and we get a new Super Power and Costume in between. There was a whole lot to process in this issue, but was it good? Let's talk about it, shall we?

Welcome to My Nightmare
I don't usually think of Superman and horror as two great tastes that go great together. However, after reading Greg Pak's Horrorville story, I may have to change my mind. Coming straight out of the Doomed story, Horrorville has been a good change of pace for Superman fans and even though the story itself has some questionable elements, I have enjoyed it as a whole. Last issue ended with some Smallville residents getting personal with some facehuggers, others revealing their special powers and what they've been doing with them and most importantly, Lana Lang being turned into a crazy ass marionette by the Ultra-Humanite. To say I was looking forward to this finale is an understatement, but is it any good? Let's find out kiddies.

Getting Back To Business
*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*
In the last issue of Green Lantern, we saw Hal sent on leave by the Templar Guardians and go back to Earth, which I've been waiting to see for a long time. It was there though that we realized that things aren't all sunshine and rainbows for the leader of the Corps, no instead it looks like Hal is dealing with a lot after the events of GODHEAD and really, every other awful thing that's happened to the Corps and him with every crossover before it. You figure the fact that the universe pretty much hates the Lantern's guts due to the Durlan shape shifting ruse and that a guy he knows his banging his ex-girlfriend......... Yeah, you might be a little frazzled too. So Hal took some time for himself last issue to go get some drinks but Guy Gardner and future Barry Allen had to show up and force their problems on Hal............ jerks. At the end of the issue Carol Ferris showed up and told Hal to get his shit together and maybe............. just maybe if he does that, they'll have a shot in the future. Let's check out where our story goes from there.
Effigy #1 Review
Written by: Tim Seeley
Art by: Marley Zarcone
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: January 28, 2015
Effigy, a new series created by writer Tim Seeley and artist Marley Zarcone that much better: it's topical and well done.
In the modern day and age it's hard not to think about the myriad of child stars from the last twenty or so years and the dark path a good percentage of them have gone down. Screech, Miley Cyrus, Amanda Bynes, Macaulay Culkin--every path shows a former child star that is nothing more than a mere shell of their former selves.

The Flash season 1 episode 12 "Crazy for You" Review
Last week, our "Pied Piper" was captured and he revealed that not only that he knew what happened to Ronnie, but how he could be saved. This would clearly be weighing on the man who essentially killed the guy, even with the best of intentions. While Cisco tries to get the information out of Hartley, the Scarlet Speedster goes against someone quicker than the blink of an eye, Lashawn Baez. The metahuman broke her boyfriend out of prison through a special teleportation power. As much as I want to comment on the metahuman crisis this week's episode, the real goodness actually came outside the lab or the Flash costume. So we have good civilian side AND good metahuman side stories? LET'S FIND OUT!

Doctor Fate Is A Big Bag of Dicks
*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*
Last issue of Earth 2, I spent the majority of the review complaining about how this title that I love had merely become a way to tell some side stories that the writers of World's End didn't want to bother putting into the weekly series. Yeah, I called this title World's End's Bitch. Luckily though, after reading this issue I think I can say that Earth 2 will play bitch no longer and it will become the great title that it once was......... Well, I hope it will. So let's check out this issue all about Doctor Fate and Aqua Woman, who have been sorely missed from World's End. Let's check it out and get reacquainted with these two Earth 2 powerhouses.
Grayson #7 Review
Written by: Tim Seeley and Tom King
Art by: Stephen Mooney
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: February 4, 2015
I am a huge fan of Grayson. There, I said it. Why am I making such a loud declaration? Mainly because I seem to be one of the few Nightwing fans who feel that way. I know where they are they coming from...DC took away a really good Nightwing book to give us Double O Dick, but unlike some, I gave it a chance. I really didn't have a choice as I was assigned to review it, but I'm so glad I did. Sure, it's a spy book on the surface, but underneath, it's so much more. It's an action movie come to life, it's a pop culture reference machine, but most important of all, it's a celebration of Dick Grayson. So, if you are a Nightwing fan, a Robin fan or just a Dick Grayson fan, don't avoid this book because of some grudge you have against certain powers that be because you will just be cutting off your nose to spite your face. Okay, I'm done the I love Grayson P.S.A. and will get on with my review.

The Next Phase
*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*
Last issue of World's End, we had the Fury Death sorta give birth to her spawn....... appropriately known as Deathspawn and I say sorta gave birth because the monster actually ripped out of her. Instead of another Avatar fight though, the monster simply went into the ground and apparently went after the parliament themselves. Besides for that though, the rest of the issue went pretty smoothly for our heroes. New baddies, the proto-furies were introduced and quickly beaten by Red Tornado, Batman reenacted the OD scene from Pulp Fiction and jogged Huntress's heart back to beating by injecting her with venom....... So yeah, pretty decent issue of our heroes not getting their ass kicked. That might not last too much longer though because on the final page we saw that Kalibak is on Earth and you know how he loves giving out a good ass whooping. Let's check out this issue and see if our Earth 2 heroes can continue to win against the forces of Darkseid......... Yeah, we already know what happens, but let's pretend we don't.

In our last jaunt to Five Years From Now, Superman (of the Clark Kent variety) and Constantine were fighting off corn kernel monsters when they discovered that Smallville is some ancient evil place marked by the true Brainiac long ago....... What does that mean? I don't really know, I think Constantine and Clark just needed something to do during this series. By the end of the issue we saw that Brainiac had finally made his way to Earth and that his plan was to collect Manhattan mint on card. Now it's up to Earth's heroes to fight back and stop Brainiac from his collecting chaos. Let's check out this issue and see if they pull it off.

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*
In the last issue of Arkham Manor we saw that the administration just lets the inmates do whatever the hell they want. I mean, Bruce's disguise of Jack Shaw was found in the room of a man that had a drill put in his head after he beat up a bunch of orderlies and then he's simply checked out by a doctor for a concussion without any extra security...... No wonder everyone is always breaking out of Arkham. Bruce eventually went back to his snooping around with none of the security caring and found where "The Spider" since we're calling him that now, has been hiding. After a brief fight, the killer got away but Bruce found the almost dead body of Zsasz.... So yeah, Zsasz is alive. At the end of the issue we saw the orderly Eric Border reveal himself as The Joker and somehow turn a amnesiac part of Clayface into a Jokerized Clownface........ It's A Mad House! Let's check out this issue and see if Bruce can find the killer while Clownface runs amok.

Arrow Season 3 episode 11 "Midnight City" Review
Pushed out of the Canary Nest
Brick is coming down hard with his plan on taking over the Glades, and not even the police can stop him. Only issue is that the one person everyone thinks can beat him is "no longer with us". So who do we turn to? Who will save the Glades? Enter the new Canary! Thats right after three seasons, we see Laurel put on the leather jacket. To honor her sister's memory, she has become something else. That being said, maybe it wasn't the best idea logically to have your first night on the job going up against Vinnie Jones. Thankfully while she and Arsenal fight against Brick, Oliver is making a speedier recovery than I imagined and will be rejoining the crew quite soon. Enough of the dawdling, lets get started!

As Lobo grows closer to preventing the destruction of Earth, an old foe returns and reveals Lobo’s role in the destruction of his home world.
I wish I could say that I've loved everything about this new Lobo series, but I can't. It has nothing to do with Lobo (or Fauxbo if you will) who I actually really like, but the slow moving story and his "team". From this preview, it looks like we are finally breaking free of the assassin of the month club and getting to the meat of the arc. From the looks of it, this might be the issue that finally brings the Main Man fully into the New 52.

Written by: Brian Buccellato

Cover Price: $0.99
Release Date: February 3. 2015
I have enjoyed Brian Buccellato's run on Injustice so far, but last issue was by far his best. It had the requisite action and mayhem, some much needed humor and a kick-ass reveal at the end. Yep, we finally find out who the Spectre is and I couldn't have been happier when I saw Mxyzptlk had been the one protecting Superman all Year long. Right after putting it down I couldn't wait to see what Buccellato would do to top such a great issue. I guess the answer is with tons of beat 'em up action and another great new character entering the fray.

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*
When we last walked through the dark pages of Gotham By Midnight, we were given Sister Justine's back story about how she came to be in Corrigan's Precinct 13 gang and it had to do with Spectre getting ornery and her parish being possessed by green drooling........ I want to call them specters but that seems confusing to me........ So some sort of other worldly being was possessing them. Spectre wiped them out and Sister Justine decided to join Jim in doing the greater good. The rest of the issue was Jim Corrigan taking out that evil monster nun thing and saving the children that had been taken by the monster and in the end we found out that there are five monsters attacking Gotham with it's growing darkness and what not. So, I'm saying that the parish monster was one and with the nun we got two out of five down. Let's see if this issue throws anymore monsters Precinct 13's way. Let's check it out.

Can Batman put an end to Anarky once and for all? Or will the citizens of Gotham City even let him try?
I really don't have much to say about this....... I've been really digging what we've been given with Anarky so far and all of the other mysteries going on in this title. It's really fun and I can't wait to find out how everything works together........... It's all got to be tied together right?

Harley Quinn Valentine's Day Special #1 Preview
Written by: Jimmy Palmiotti, Amanda Conner
Art by: John Timms
Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: February 4, 2015
Love is in the air in New York City! The planet’s richest bachelor, Bruce Wayne, is in town for a charity auction – and the highest bidder gets a date with Mr. Tall, Dark, and Brooding! Good thing Harley Quinn just came into some money (please, whatever you do, don’t ask how). But can Bruce really spend a night with Harley without her learning how he spends his nights?
I love one thing more than a normal Harley Quinn issue and that's a crazy Special Issue. What could be crazier than Harley, Bruce Wayne and Valentine's Day? Nothing, that's what. I can't wait to read about the zany hijinx that Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner have in store for our favorite looney tune...and I DO want to know how she got that money. I really, really, really want to know.

Superman #38 Preview
Written by: Geoff Johns
Art by: John Romita, Jr
Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: February 4, 2015
A new year brings a new power and a new look from the epic team of Geoff Johns, John Romita Jr. and Klaus Janson in the extra-sized conclusion of their first arc! The showdown between Superman and Ulysses will push the Man of Steel to new extremes – and Superman’s new look is revealed as Clark Kent tells his true identity to one of the cast. Plus a surprise guest-star!
I have enjoyed this arc and I'd take "Neil before Zod" any day...actually, I just wanted to force that joke in because if we are talking the Terence Stamp Zod then all bets are off. I guess I should talk a little about this issue, but the solicit says so much already. Extra-sized conclusion? A new look for Superman? Revealing his identity? A surprise guest-star? That's a whole lot of shakin' going on. My prediction for the guest star? Terra Man.

The terror from Smallville has spread across the globe, and now Superman must make a sacrifice to save it! Don’t miss the final chapter of “Horrorville”!
Well, it looks like the Horrorville arc is ending just as I'm getting into it. Yea, it took a bit to grow on me and while I'm still not sold on the big reveal of last month, I'm really hoping this issue knocks it out of the park. I have full faith in Greg Pak and love Scott Kolins' and Aaron Kuder's art so I'm sure this finale will be great. Also, there was a little promise Aaron Kuder gave me about Hiro being awesome that has gone unfulfilled so far...just saying.

Snake Attack Sneak Attack!
*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*
Last issue of Eternity War, we saw some bad shit go down with the Horde bringing Hordak back from Despondos and fusing him with the blood of He-Man....... What does this mean? Well it means that Hordak forged himself a sword and claimed the power of Grayskull for himself........ So if Eternia didn't seem screwed before, it certainly does now. Not to mention that Hordak wants to get his hands on two gems that could kill anyone in space and time. As the last issue ended our heroes proclaimed that they would find and destroy these two gems but it might be a little harder than they imagined. Skeletor made his grand re-entrance and we saw that he has the gem of Chaos..... These gems don't have any play at all in this issue, I just wanted to keep you fresh on the subject. So let's check out this issue where our heroes make their first assault against Hordak.

DC Comics Best Covers of the Week 1/31/15
I'd love to say that it's Super Bowl Sunday, but I don't think anyone but Marshawn Lynch is allowed to do that, so...welcome to the Best DC Covers of the Week. What better way to pass the time before the Big Game than checking out some cool covers for books such as The Flash, Batman and Deathstroke. There were so many books this week that it was tough to narrow them down, but I like these the best. As for the game, I'm going with the Patriots over the Seahawks 21-17. I'm an Eagles fan so I'm sure I'll be wrong. Enjoy the covers.
Weird Science DC Comics Podcast Episode 4: Eric Ain't Afraid of No Ghosts
Another week, another bunch of nonsense on our podcast. This week we talk a little Ghostbusters casting (We hate it) and Chris Pratt as Indiana Jones (We love it). We also talk a little Supergirl casting, Gorilla Grodd in The Flash and finally get to some comics. Even though we narrow this week's books to a "featured few", we still couldn't shut up and ended up with another long one. Oh well, quantity over quality. Enjoy!
