DC Comics Best Covers of the Week 1/24/15

It's been a while since I've done a Covers of the Week, but I have an excuse.  I'm lazy.  Yes, I know that is a pretty lame excuse, but it's an excuse all the same.  Actually, I'll blame our podcast because not only does it take three hours to record, but for some unknown reason, it takes me tons of time to edit.  I'd like to blame Eric somehow, but I don't think it's his fault.  I'll take that as a challenge!  It's Eric's fault because he wears an eye patch and a headband.  What does that have to do with an audio file?  You tell me.  As far as covers, we have the return of an old friend, a Flash variant and some Wonder Woman and Batman Action.  Enjoy!

Cover of the Week

Wonder Woman #38 (David Finch)

What can I say about David Finch that hasn't already been said?  I'm sure I could make up some stuff real quick that would get me in trouble, but I'm not going that route.  This cover is so good and the crazy thing is, the inside art is even better.  Seriously, this is the best looking book I read right now and as an added bonus, it was the best overall issue of the Finch's run so far.  My review of the issue is HERE.

Runners Up

Batwoman #38 (Rafael Albuquerque)

If you've read this column before, you will know that I loves me some Rafael Albuquerque.  While I wish he did more interior art, I'm glad he does covers.  I'm spoiled, I guess.  He has been doing the Batwoman covers for a while, but these "Unknowns" ones may be my favorite.  This week we get Ragman and it is so awesome in it's simplicity.  I wish the issue would have been better, but at least I can sit and stare at the cover.  My review for the issue is HERE.

Justice League #38 (Jim Lee and Scott Williams)

Batman with powers?!?  I'm in.  Jim Lee does a great job making a cover that get's your attention right away and forces you to spend your hard earned money.  I know that Eric had an issue that Batman's powers look a bit different than the ones he gets in the issue, but I still love the way it looks.  Eric's review of the issue is HERE.

Edit: The inside credits listed Jason Fabok and Brad Anderson as the cover artists.  However, I was corrected by an anonymous fellow in the comments that it is actually a Jim Lee/Scott Williams cover.  I'm not sure if he was being mean, but while it "clearly" is a Jim Lee cover, I went with the credits...my mistake.  I still like Jason Fabok, so take that!

Wonder Woman #38 Flash Variant (Terry and Rachel Dodson)

I love fun and this cover is pure fun.  Flash photo bombing a wedding is good by itself, but what a crazy wedding.  At least Wonder Woman looks like she's happy.  I'd hate to see that leaked honeymoon video!

The New 52: Futures End #38 (Ryan Sook)

Ryan Sook has become a regular in this column and looking at this cover, you can tell why.  You get Batman Beyond which is awesome, but pair him with Joker/Batman man-e-faces and we have a winner.  It's action packed craziness and I love it!  Eric's review of the issue is HERE.

Best Cover Band of the Week (Who's Bad: The Ultimate Michael Jackson Tribute)

See you guys next week!

  1. Why do you keep saying that that Justice League #38 was done by Jason Fabok? It is clearly a Jim Lee/Scott Williams cover.

    1. funny thing is, it lists Fabok on the inside as the cover artist, but when I blew up the cover it does have Jim Lee's signature. So, I listed it as Fabok because that's who was given credit, but I'll change it because of the signature
