DC Comics Best Covers of the Week 10/25/14
This week is very Flash-centric. Being a huge Flash fan, that is a-ok with me. We get all sorts of flavors...zombie, future and cosmic treadmill running awesome as all hell Flash. The rest of the covers feature a He and a She and one awesome cow. Man, it was one busy week and here are my picks...enjoy!
Cover of the Week
Multiversity the Just #1 (Dale Eaglesham Variant)
This is my favorite cover since I started this column. The minute I saw the Cosmic Treadmill, I knew we had a winner this week. Then I went into work and showed it to Eric and told him we had a winner this week. Well, it's award time and...we have a winner this week. Eric has raved on and on over Eaglesham's art on Sinestro and I can see why. Eric's review of the issue is HERE, but as far as I know, no treadmill.
Runner's Up
The Flash #35 (Ryan Ottley and FCO Plascencia Variant)
Continuing the Flash theme, here is my new favorite Monster Variant by Ryan Ottley. It is disgustingly awesome. My favorite part is Barry's intestines coming out of his suit. I'm betting that as long as I write this column, I will never say that again. It doesn't hurt that the issue was also great. My review is HERE.
The Flash #35 (Brett Booth, Norm Rapmund and Andrew Dalhouse)
The final part of the Flash trifecta. I love Brett Booth's Future Flash so it's a no brainer to pick this cover as one of the best of the week. The sense of speed is great and seeing Barry fighting himself over and over is awesome and has the added bonus of having to do with what's actually inside the cover. I already linked to the review above but here's a spoiler, it's an awesome issue. Brett Booth nails the art as usual and Tarvosaurus makes a guest appearance.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #18 (Stjepan Sejic)
This cover sure is epic. It looks like a Frank Frazetta Conan cover and that is the highest compliment I could ever give. I don't know how any fantasy fan could walk by this cover and not stop to check it out. You know what else is good? The issue inside. Eric's review is HERE.
Infinity Man and the Forever People #4 (Howard Porter)
I love Bat Cow, but it's Howard Porter that does it for me. Porter is one of my favorite artists and the main reason that I enjoy Justice league 3000 so much. Seeing his style on this cover makes me wish he was on Infinity Man as well. Come on DC, make it happen. I have not read or reviewed this issue yet because I'm a lazy jerk, but I'm planning on getting to it later today. If the issue is half as good as the cover, I'll be a happy camper.
See you next week!
Actually, I would read Infinity Man with Porter on art, too!
