With the word on the streets being that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be portraying Black Adam in a future Shazam movie. We here at Weird Science are bouncing off the walls about the news that DC would actually make a Shazam movie, then we get sad and cry a little bit. You see emotions are all over the place on this one. Now I love Shazam and would love to see him in more things, but the problem is it has to be done right. The idea of a young boy being given the powers of gods and heroes by saying a magic word, that transforms him into a squinty man child just doesn't sound like something that could be translated into film........ or TV........ or pretty much anything outside of comics.
It's funny to me that a film could really be a possibility since DC hasn't even given the character his own comic in the New 52 and at this point it doesn't look like one will come anytime soon. So to try and prove my point in the difficulties in making a live action mightiest mortal we'll be looking at the intro to the 70's Shazam television show and afterwards you make up your mind whether Billy Batson could jump from panels on a page to a hundred million dollar blockbuster. Let's check it out.
