Just For The Hell Of It Mondays: The Birds of Prey

Happy Labor Day!  Hopefully you have the day off today and can sit back and enjoy this Just For The Hell Of It Monday properly.  For this week's video I figured we'd take a look at a musical number performed by Black Canary, Huntress and Catwoman in the great animated series Batman The Brave and The Bold.  I can't tell you how much I loved this series and how bitter I am that it was cancelled to make way for the very inferior Beware The Batman series.  For those of you who haven't watched The Brave and the Bold yet, go over to Netflix, who has the entire series and binge watch your way into a nirvana of animated silver age goodness.

The reason that this video made the cut more than any other Batman The Brave and The Bold........ anything is due to the fact that this little number that the trio sing stayed with me for days after hearing and it's very catchy.  Imagine walking through the grocery store singing out loud "The One and Only Birds of Prey!" and then imagine what kind of looks the normal populace would give you.  Well I don't have to imagine and I don't really care, because this song is great and goes to show the fun the creators had in making it.  Now another bit of business I want to get off my chest is that I love musicals.  It's not really something that one says without getting sneers from people or the occasional chuckle, but it's true I do.  So that being out in the open I also want to say that the co-founder of Weird Science has a bunch of kids and with him knowing my love of musicals has repeatedly told me to watch High School Musical, because him having kids and all has made him watch the movie many times and he thinks I'd really enjoy it.  Now I ask you gentle people, in this day and age is it really proper for a single thirty-one year old man-child to watch a film called High School Musical?  Now I know it's on Netflix, but in this scenario I like to imagine I'm going out and buying it and then the nosy cashier at the local Walmart asks me how old my children are and me being the honest person I am says "I don't have children".  What kind of look do you think I would receive?  Yeah this is really off topic, but it's something that goes on behind the scenes of Weird Science that I thought I'd let you all in on.  So without more nonsense keeping you from your Birds of Prey song, let's get to it.

Happy Labor Day and we'll see you in seven for the next installment of Just For The Hell Of It Mondays.
