Canary's Revenge
I've been reviewing Injustice for over fifty issues now and I always start by saying how much I love it. I know you're probably sick of me gushing over it review after review, but tough tacos! It's my review and I'll gush if I want to. I love it! There, I said it. Deal with it and lets get on to this week's review. Spoiler alert...I loved it.
Last week's issue ended with Black Canary and Superman at each other's throats, literally. They crashed to Earth in a huge explosion and this issue starts in the crater they made. If anyone has a reason to hate Superman, it's Dinah. He killed Ollie. Believe me, I haven't forgiven him so how could you think she has? She does what she set out to do and it looks like Superman is out of commission. Speaking of out of commission, we get to see most of Team Superman being put away as well. The highlight is Harley starting Flash's "reprogramming". Tom Taylor continues to write one of the best Harleys out there.
The rest of the book is for those complaining about the low death quota in Year Two. The best part is that with so many characters in the book, even fans of the game have no idea who might drop next. I wish I could pretend I don't know. Tom Taylor makes me hate Superman even more and I wasn't sure that was possible. It's a shocking and heartbreaking end. I can't wait for next week, but for now I'll just sit and be sad.
Tom Derenick's art is great because of the emotions he gives the characters. Anger, pain, hurt and even laughter are here and Derenick does a great job with all of them.
Bits and Pieces:
Injustice: Year Two #22 is another great issue that is getting us closer and closer to complete and utter madness. Whenever the tide looks to be turning, Tom Taylor throws a wrench in the works. By wrench, I mean the death of a another favorite character. Tom Derenick's art is emotional and great and I can't wait to see what and who goes down next.
9.0/10
Holy crap, talk about emotional whiplash at the end there.
