Blood Work
Last time we took a peek in the comic world of Arrow we saw a death defying take down of a drug trafficking plane, when our heroes Arrow and Roy..... Speedy? I don't know what we're going with on Roy's code name. Anyway the two took over the plane, but Roy got a belly full of bullets for his trouble and when we left our heroes Roy was falling out of the plane. On a side note we saw a strange opener where a boy named Caleb saw his father kill his mother and then turn the gun on himself. Very strange opener. So let's take a look at this issue and find out what happened to our favorite TV sidekick and possibly what happened to poor Caleb. Let's check it out.
Explain It!:
Like I said above, our story begins with Roy plummeting to his death....... with a belly full of bullets also killing him, so really it's just a bad day for Roy. With a quick tech explanation about Felicity's auto-pilot finally kicking in, Oliver jumps after his friend and when he has a firm grasp on him, we see another trick arrow, the parachute arrow. God I love trick arrows. With the plane interwebbed to landing and the bad guys arrested, Oliver has Diggle prep for surgery and now it's a matter of time and luck to see if Roy will pull through.
OH YEAH! PARACHUTE ARROW! |
Elsewhere we see that young Caleb after witnessing his parent's death many years ago has grown up to be one of Starling City's finest drunk hobos. On another night of drinking too much and passing out in an alley, Caleb is met by a fine dressed gentleman who offers him a chance to turn his life around at a local church. Speaking about life, let's check in on Detective Lance, who if you remember at the end of season 2, doubled over in pain after his fight with one of Slade's mirakuru soldiers. Here we see that Detective Lance has been put into a medically induced coma after a surgery to clear a hematoma and that his daughter Laurel hasn't left his side since. So don't worry Arrow fans, Detective Lance is fine as we've seen from Arrow Season 3 previews and now from this stoll down digital hospital lane.
WE'RE ALL PULLING FOR YOU DETECTIVE LANCE |
In the end we see that Roy has survived surgery and that Oliver plans on sitting with him while Diggle goes home to his pregnant girlfriend and Felicity has a shift over at Kord Industries. Oh yeah, Blue Beetle baby. So while everything seems fine in the world of Arrow with the exception of Oliver not having a real home to go to, we see what that local church that Caleb was brought to is all about. It seems that while we saw Brother Blood killed by Ravager in the last season of Arrow, he appears to be alive and well and recruiting a new army in this church basement. So I guess we'll continue to beware Brother Blood here and in season 3.
THERE WILL BE BLOOD! |
That's it for this chapter of Arrow, make sure you're back here in two weeks as we learn more about Brother Blood's supposed resurrection, Roy's well being and hopefully what kind of part Kord Industries will be playing in Arrow Season 3. See you then.
Bits and Pieces:
While not as impactful as chapter 1, this chapter did do a lot to continue the story and begin to lay out the pieces to this series and possibly the plot lines to season 3 of the television show. We can only go up from here, so make sure you continue to read this title to get all the info leading up to the season premiere.
8.3/10
