Earth 2....... Kind Of
Terribly Misleading Cover |
Last issue of Worlds' Finest we saw the finest thing that I've witnessed since the beginning of this title. Our two heroes were heading home to a possible direction for this series. Now that's the gist of it, but the full recap includes the characters being over sexualized as they spend their last day on Prime Earth and enjoying the little things our Earth has to offer. But this all leads to the Desaad finding out that they're leaving him behind and he goes to the lab to make his way to Earth 2 as well. One of Karen's scientists, Tanya Spears has been showcased in this series lately and apparently has the ability to overcome Desaad, and it's a good thing because she opens the gateway and our heroes finally head home. Now it was a little confusing to me whether or not Desaad made the journey, but we'll find out here as we sit back and take a look at Worlds' Finest #26. Let's check it out.
Explain It!:
Our story begins with our heroes exiting the portal and finding their once home in ruins. They then spend the rest of the issue beating up Parademons to make their way to where Power Girl spotted someone in a Superman suit and a Bat suit. We find out that Desaad made the journey too and then uses the boom tube to go somewhere else on Earth 2 that has discovered a power source that would be beneficial to Darkseid. That is all. Seriously.
Just Look At This Awesome Artwork |
The other half of the issue we go back to Prime Earth where Tanya Spears is being rescued from the collapsed lab that Power Girl and Huntress left behind. But it doesn't seem like she needs much rescuing when she lifts the ceiling covering her over her head. Yes Tanya Spears somehow has acquired super powers and we go through a couple of reasons this might of happened and are given no conclusions.
In the end we find out that Power Girl had the foresight to know a super powered girl when she sees one and has left the name "Power Girl" to Tanya Spears. So I guess we'll have a new Power Girl in Prime Earth, but what it has to do with this series I don't know, because if we keep jumping back and forth between Earths I'm going to be seriously pissed.
Bits and Pieces:
While this issue did nothing for me to believe that it's on the right direction now that our heroes are back on Earth 2, it did tell a mediocre story with awesome art. Yeah this is probably the best the series has looked so far and it's the issues only saving grace. So give it up to Tyler Kirkham and Scott Kolins here. If you enjoy comics solely for the art then this is for you because it has it in spades. Otherwise it's not important.
5.5/10
