We've Got Answers People!!!!!
Okay for this recap you'll need to know that Stormwatch was killed off with the exception of Hawkman and SHADE sent out Ray Palmer, Amethyst and Frankenstein to find out what happened. Frankenstein now has one of Hawkman's arms attached to him and the Nth metal is changing him and he even slept for the first time causing him to have visions of an awful future. Hawkman, Amethyst and Frankenstein crash landed on an alien planet looking for a surviving Stormwatch member and we found out that Brainiac has taken over The Engineer and imprisoned our three heroes. An evil geneticist named Ethan Boyer has escaped from prison and has made Rampage rampagier to keep Superman busy as he sets up shop again in Metropolis. On Cadmus Island a mysterious stealth OMAC attacked Grifter and Fifty Sue and him decide to hunt it down only to find out that there are more things going wrong on Cadmus Island. Maybe since Mister Miracle escapes his cell all the time, he'll figure out what the problem is first. Or maybe he's the one causing it. Let's get to this issue because we're finally given some answers to the questions that have been plaguing us.
Explain It!:
This week's issue begins with Stormguard taking down some criminals trying to push Ethan Boyer's new handy work. We finally find out that Ethan Boyer uses a catalog of Earth 2 DNA he collected during the war to make fake genetic ID cards and apparently Stormguard has a problem with it. But the badass beat down is put on hold as we find out that one of the counterfeiters was a soldier during the war and since Stormguard was as well, they decide to talk out their problems. Dude's totally going to prison though, don't worry about that.
Back on Cadmus Island, King Faraday catches Mister Miracle without his cloaking device on, staring at monitors, but the strangest part about this is that he doesn't seem too concerned and also the monitors read "RUN SCOTT RUN". So yeah, that's kind of weird. Elsewhere it seems since Fifty Sue came into contact with Earth 2 scientist Lana Lang, during her stealth OMAC hunt, that the little brat has taken a shine to her and plans on keeping her as her mother. Yeah that's creepy as hell, but it doesn't seem to be affecting Lana yet, so I'm not too concerned just yet. King Faraday tells Deathstroke and Fifty Sue to get Grifter and find out what's causing all the glitches and stealth OMACs on the island. It could possibly be Mister Miracle, but King doesn't seem to think it's necessary to tell this pair about him escaping all the time. I really don't know what King Faraday's end game is here.
In New York we see that Mister Terrific is trying to make sure he has enough Uspheres manufactured for when they're supposed to hit the shelves and what I thought was Brother Eye giving Mister Terrific the HAL treatment, seems to be something else since it talks about things for when it gets to the planet. So since every other mysterious thing going on in this series seems to have a Brainiac symbol, I'm saying it's Brainiac. Mister Terrific should know better than this.
Helmeted Superman takes on Rampage again and saves Lois Lane as per usual and even though this fight doesn't lead anywhere we do see Rampage break the bottom part of Superman's Helmet revealing that this Superman Five Years From Now is at least not Val-Zod from Earth 2. So while it's not a definite answer about who Superman is, it does cross off the interwebs #1 suspect. ANSWERS!!!!!!
In the end we see Frankenstein, Amethyst and Hawkman confronted by a changed Engineer. We find out that they didn't really crash land on a planet, but a planet sized star ship, the master of that star ship is the thing that killed Stormwatch and that thing is BRAINIAC!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, called it. But more importantly.........ANSWERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's Five Years From Now for this week, come back next as we hopefully continue to get answers, but don't count on it. Answers feel so good once they are inside of me........ That is all.
Bits and Pieces:
We got some answers *Doing a little dance here* We got some answers! I'm really happy with this week's issue of Futures End, but I'm really not sure if it's because it was a good issue, or that I was strung along for so long that now that I'm given some exquisite answers, that I feel the need to stroke this comic. It could go either way, but if you've been feeling suckered by this series for the last couple of weeks, then I guess you can have the same tear inducing experience I had. Yeah that's a bit exaggerated, but the important thing is, we got some answers *Doing a little dance again here* We got some answers!
9/10
