Weird Science DC Comics News: Father's Day Edition

Not gonna happen
As a Father of five boys, I never know what to expect on Father's Day.  Unlike Mother's Day, this day is pretty hit-or-miss.  Some years it's a big thing, other years it gets ignored.  I have a feeling this one will be somewhere in between. I know my oldest son was planning on getting me an Xbox One.  My wife got mad at him and told him not to spend that much money on a gift.  I told him not to buy it because I'd rather have a Playstation 4, hint hint.  The reason he wanted to buy it was because none of his friends have one and he wants someone to play games with online.  Oh well, it looks like I won't be joining the next gen gaming crowd for a little bit, though my birthday is in a couple of weeks, wink wink. Enough video game talk (at least for a few seconds), we are here to talk about comic book news.  If you have been reading my little column each week, you will know that news has been hard to come by. This week there is a bit of exciting news, but it comes from the movie side of things.  When are we going to get some honest to goodness comic BOOK news?  Probably not until late July.  Until then, I will keep giving you what I can find as I wrap up the week gone by.

On With the News...

Arkhman Knight Looks Awesome
I don't understand what's going on here

As Jean Claude asked in the greatest movie ever (Bloodsport, of course), "Aren't you a little old for video games?" To that I say, "pish posh" "dagnabit" and "Bed is the poor man's Opera". Wait, what am I talking about and who the hell are you?!?!  Oh yea, video games.  E3 was this week and Rocksteady showed off a bit of Batmobile action in game play form.  It looks incredible.  I will admit it once again, I was not a huge fan of Arkham Origins.  It was just too much of the same for me.  If Eric is reading this he is shaking his fist and cursing right now.  He absolutely loved it.  Everyday at work, it's Batman Origins this, you should watch Shawshank Redemption that, why aren't you wearing pants... You get the point.  Anyway, this trailer has me fully in for the Arkham Knight game, if only I had a system to play it on, hint hint.  Here's the trailer.

Aquaman Cast for Dawn of Justice?

"Did you just say..."
Yes, it looks like Khal Drogo is set to play Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.  After spending so much time denying the rumors, it's been reported by numerous sources that Jason Momoa will be playing the King of Atlantis.  It's also rumored that it's not a huge part, but more of a cameo with him being pissed off at the trouble the World Engine caused the oceans in Man of Steel.  Which leads me to something that I have been telling Eric for months.  Don't get me wrong, I think this is an awful idea for a movie, but I think Batman v Superman is going to be a bit of a courtroom drama.  You have the whole "v" thing in the title such as in a court case.  Also,  the "justice" in the title and DC keeps pointing out that Superman must answer for the destruction in Man of Steel.  Maybe Clark and Bruce get identified while leaving the Sac-O-Suds, but get acquitted when we learn the Batmobile doesn't have positraction.  Plus a scene where Wonder Woman tells Cyborg, "oh yea, you blend".  One can only hope.

Seven Movies in Two Years?

While I don't believe this one bit, Nikki Finke reported that DC was planning on releasing seven movies between 2016-2018.  Here is the schedule:

May 2016 – Batman v Superman
July 2016 – Shazam
Christmas 2016 – Sandman
May 2017 – Justice League
July 2017 – Wonder Woman
Christmas 2017 – Flash/Green Lantern team-up
May 2018 – Man Of Steel 2

Pretty crazy, huh?  My favorite of the bunch is Flash/Green Lantern teamup which is also one that I think will never happen...the other being Shazam.  I hope I'm wrong because I would go see every one of them.  Okay, I'd wait for them to come out on Blu-ray.  Okay, I'd wait until they come on Netflix.  The eternal struggle between my love of DC Movies and my cheapness and hatred of crowds rages on.

Best.Dad.Ever.

Best Micheal Moore Cosplay as well
Since it's Father's Day I'd be remiss if I didn't mention my favorite Dad of all-time.  No, it's not Philip II, Pepin the Short and especially not Ivan the Terrible.  No, the best Dad in history award goes to Harold Howard.  Why?  Well, when his son, Scott, was desperately trying to cope with becoming a werewolf, Harold was there to tell him everything would be fine.  You know what?  He was right.  After some fancy dribbling (traveling, anyone?), dunks, urban surfing and more dunks, Scott ruled the school.  However, like all great Dads, Harold knew what was right for his son.  By that I mean Boof.  If that wasn't enough, the guy appreciated Stiles' fashion.  Here's to you, Harold Howard.  The Best Dad Ever.

On a side note, if you ever mention the MTV Teen Wolf around me, expect to get cut.  Don't wake the snake.

Dot...Dot...Dot...
I can finally recommend the Infinite Crisis: Fight for the Multiverse weekly...A Shazam movie?  How about a Shazam Monthly...I want this Burger right now...I pity the fool who isn't reading The Royals: Masters of War by Rob Williams...I always try to get into the World Cup, but I've failed once again...Of my books this week, I'm looking most forward to Wonder Woman #32...What happened to Coolio?

Another Week, Another News.  World's Second Biggest Teen Wolf Fan...Out!
