Suicide isn't Painless

So many people, like myself, have such fond memories of Birds of Prey.  If you do, take a moment and think back to your favorite all-time moments right now.  Okay, was anyone thinking of the New 52 Birds? I didn't think so.  What started out as a promising reboot quickly turned sour.  When Christy Marx took over, I had hopes again, but those were dashed as well.  So now we are left with a couple of issues for this team (creative and super powered) until it's overdue death.  Maybe the inclusion of the Suicide Squad will spice things up.  Don't count on it.



The Birds are still recovering from the battle with Ra's.  Strix is vainly trying to fit in, Black Canary is trying to help Kurt's recovery, Kurt is pissed at Canary for smothering him and Condor is being a creepy stalker all while a relative of Mother Eve's is captured in the Middle East.  Sounds like the start of a fantastic adventure to me or just some melodramatic crap that is laughable to read.  You know which one it really is.

I have already talked until I'm blue in the face about how bad this book has become.  This issue is worse.  Why didn't Christy Marx kill Condor when she had the chance?  Did DC demand he live?  If they did, they're insane.  He is the worst thing in a bad book.  Also, Kurt comes out of his coma as a complete asshole.  What gives?  So, my favorite character in the book is stuck between an Asshole that tried to kill her husband and her Husband who doesn't know her and is an asshole about it.
Great.

Getting back to the story that no one cares about, the Birds head to the Middle East to save Mother Eve's relative and after they "save" him, they are confronted by the Suicide Squad.  Terrific  (sarcastic meter at 10 there, folks).  If this book could talk it would be whispering "kill me" after the nurse leaves the room.  Soon, my friend. Soon.

Robson Rocha is on art duties and while it's okay, I really can't care.  This book has just worn me down.  I can finally go to sleep after August.

Bits and Pieces:

Birds of Prey #32 is just another bad issue in a bad series that thankfully only has a couple of issues left.  I'd call it mediocre, but that would be a compliment.  I gave it a chance, but if it wasn't ending in August, I'd be dropping it by then anyway.
