The Hell With Sharknado, We've Got Bloodnado!

When we last saw the Red Lanterns they had traveled to the planet Primeen to search for a new Red, and man does Kara find her.  This new Red Lantern is destroying her city where she once was the sole judge of the planet, now that her King betrayed her, and with a boat load of new Red Lantern power flowing through her, this judge is sentencing everyone.  This judge was able to overpower Supergirl, but lucky for Kara she was deemed innocent when the Judge rooted around in her head, and was allowed to live.  When last we saw Supergirl she was going for the magic blood they have stored in their ship to stop the Judge's crazy, and Atrocitus showed up for his court date to meet this Judge.  Let's see if the power of the Judge will be used to fight for Atrocitus or Guy Gardner.  Let's check it out.

Explain It!:

Let me say right off the bat, that this Judge is a serious badass.  When Atrocitus goes up to her, she does her whole judging thing and sticks her hands inside his mind.  Well Dex-Starr as you know is the protective type and when he lunges at the Judge to stop her, she simply catches him in air with one hand and throws him against a wall.  Fucking badass!  As great as that was, it's over fast and I'm left wanting more badassery.  So since Atrocitus truly believes everything he's done has been righteous, the Judge can't condemn him to die.

Meanwhile Supergirl goes up to the Red Lantern ship "The Kaalvar" to simply grab the entire shipping container they have of the magic blood, and tear it open over the city, so now all of this city on Primeen will be reenacting the Prom scene from Carrie, but hopefully it will calm the Judge down a bit.  All good intentions man.  The rest of the Red Lanterns are pissed because since Atrocitus created the blood he can control it, and with it he will become even more powerful.  So what does the mighty Atrocitus do with all this magic blood?  Why he makes a bloodnado of course.  Yeah I don't know, but it looks pretty cool.

Supergirl upset about her decision making skills flies off to fix her mistake.  Yeah.... she uses her heat vision to set the blood on fire.  So gigantic flaming bloodnado.  I'm like the crows from Dumbo at this point, because now I've seen everything.  It's a good thing that Skallox watched Atrocitus closely back in the day when he was using the blood magic, because he tells all the Lanterns to hold hands while they defuse the flaming bloodnado.  It's an odd thing as well to see a bunch of Red Lanterns holding hands, so this book is full of weird visuals.  But hey, props to Skallox because it works.

In the end Atrocitus tells Guy Gardner if he ever wants to see Rankorr alive again, he'll let him leave with the Judge.  But now that the Judge isn't all kill crazy, she feels that to know what is right she must spend time with Guy's Lanterns to know them, since she already took a walkabout inside Atrocitus's noggin.  In the end Guy and Atrocitus stand face to face, and you know that a war is coming soon.  Hopefully in the next issue we'll see the Judge acclimated into Guy's Reds, and her and Zilious Zox become the best of friends.  Hey I saw a bunch of strange shit this issue, I can't say what I'll see next.  So until next time, keep your crazy rage at bay.

Bits and Pieces:

Bloodnado.  That's all you have to know about this issue to want to read it.  I'm really digging this new Red Lantern "The Judge", and she's definitely going to tip the scales with whomever she decides to fight for in the upcoming Atrocitus/Guy Gardner War, which I can't wait to see.  What else do you need to know about this issue?  Vitti draws the hell out of Red Lanterns, Soule is still writing, and BLOODNADO!  Go check it out.

8.3/10
