Heroes and Villains Just See What You've Done
All roads lead to the House of Mystery, but the real mystery is who can be trusted. Orko's origin is revealed even while unusual alliances are forming against him. A smorgasbord of characters are heading for a showdown while Prince Adam heads to save Superman.
If you made a checklist of what would make a DC and Masters of the Universe crossover great, the first three checks would be next to tons of great characters, tons of great characters and tons of great characters. Last issue had the both the JLA and JLD show up with my favorite scene featuring Simon Baz, Moss Man and Swamp Thing.
This issue continues the fun. We get OMAC, Blue Beetle, Firestorm, Bane, Cheetah and the list keeps growing. Villains and Heroes show up and it looks like they are on the wrong side of justice. There is going to be a huge brawl and it is going to be epic.
Keith Giffin and Tony Bedard have rocked the boat a little by revealing Orko as the main villain. This issue gives that twist some back story and I like it. It shows how the little guy is a hero at heart (even Skeletor says it), but also the why and how far he's fallen. To see the depths of his evil, they show him taunting a captured Superman. However, Prince Adam is on his way to save the Man of Steel, but I'm not sure he is ready for the surprise waiting for him.
Giffin and Bedard are taking their time setting up the huge battle on the horizon, but every step has been worth it. The sides are forming and what makes it great is each side has characters that I love. I can't wait to see how the fight goes down.
Pop Mhan's art is good. I actually would have preferred a more lighter and cleaner style, but the story is dark so the art fits it just fine.
Bits and Pieces:
Giffin and Bedard continue building the story towards the epic battle. It's a who's who of Universes and that makes it great fun. Any fan of either Universes will find something here to like.
