"Neo World Order"

The Beyond Universe has been so good as individual titles, but they have been disconnected a bit.  The last issue of Justice League 2.0 ended with the promise of the Justice Lords and a fully combined arc with Batman Beyond 2.0.  The arc starts with this issue and I can tell you, things are a a bit strange.  Strange, indeed.

Batman Beyond 2.0 #17 starts with two Jokerz robbing a train.  They fight the police and escape with some creds.  Nothing crazy, right? Wrong.  When they take off their masks, one is Terry McGinnis.  Ok, something isn't right.  First off, he's blond.  Second, he's in the Jokerz Gang.  Is he working undercover trying to bring them down?  It doesn't look like it.  In fact, it seems like he's been in the gang for a while.

Kyle Higgins is such a good writer.  He doesn't hand hold, instead he lets readers figure things out as they happen.  This issue had my head spinning and then we get the cliffhanger that is definitely a WTF moment. What a great way to start a new arc.

Thony Silas's art is outstanding as well.  As usual, the art could be cells from a new Batman Beyond 2.0 cartoon.  I wish it was, but this is the next best thing.  Trevor McCarthy should also be commended for his excellent cover.  Kind of a Batman Beyond/Batwing combo.

Bits and Pieces:

Kyle Higgins starts a new arc with a bang.  Batman Beyond 2.0 #17 is crazy, confusing and really good.  I can't wait to see what happens next and I'm not even sure what just happened now.

8.5/10
