Meanwhile At The Legion Of Doom.
This book picks up where Forever Evil, Justice League, and Rogues Rebellion left off. I can't imagine how
DC is going to screw us when this becomes a collected trade. If you don't think it will happen go try to read "Death of the Family" as a trade, and then you'll believe me. Bitching aside let's dive back into this event, that even though seems to have a crisis of infinite tie-ins, continues to delight.
Explain It!:
Right away in this issue we finally find out what happened to the Justice Leagues. Or maybe we found out before, and I just wasn't paying attention, but that doesn't matter. We find out that Deathstorm actually locked them all away inside his Firestorm Matrix. Didn't see that one coming, but it makes sense how everyone had their own infinite prison in the last issue of JLA.
Moving on Batman and Catwoman have just returned Cyborg to Star Labs, so that his father can possibly save his life. But then Batman notices whats on TV that night, and sees the unmasking of Nightwing. Now the Syndicate is on Batman's bad side. Don't worry folks, Batman's got this, Forever Evil should be done in no time now.
In the skies above, we come back to the ultimate showdown of baddies. Black Adam Vs. Ultra Man. When last we saw, Black Adam started out strong, but found out that Ultra Man's no pushover. Now the two are in a midair struggle for control of the fight. Black Adam Shazam's the lightning down, and gives Ultra Man a shock of a life time (I swear there will be no more puns). But Ultra Man doesn't go down. He realizes that without silly words Black Adam isn't a match for him. So what does he do? He crushes Black Adam's jaw. Yep crushed it. Black Adam goes down into the ocean and disappears. Crushed it.
Let me take you back to Rogues Rebellion, where the Rogues are confronted by Deathstorm, and Power Ring. Alright are you there? Excellent. The Syndicate members want to know why the Rogues haven't destroyed Central City yet. The Rogues start talking which makes Power Ring nervous, and for the first time we see Power Ring freak out, and use his powers, it's all pretty cool, and pretty funny. But even though the Rogues start the fight out strong, Deathstorm goes into Captain Cold's DNA and takes away his powers. Now I don't know if DC has been reading my mind, but ever since the Rogues got actual powers I've been screaming "NO NO NO!" maybe I have a few issues yes, but Captain Cold having powers isn't one of them anymore. Ha ha! The rest of the Rogues escape into the mirror world, and their exit is closed off to them, while Captain Cold tries to make his escape.
In the end, well I'm a little confused. See Bizarro, and Luthor are at the ocean front, doing something. I don't know what, and then Captain Cold shows up. All of a sudden Captain Cold gets from Central City to Metropolis? See confused. But coming out of the ocean, Black Manta emerges with the body of Black Adam, so now we have the beginning of our Legion of Doom. Can't wait to read more.
Bits and Pieces:
I just love this event. Forever Evil may be a bit lengthy with the tie-ins, but each issue seems to be better than the last. There isn't much to say that, I haven't already said about the creative team of this book, just brilliant. The best part of this issue is that the tie-ins are starting to come together for this one title, so hopefully we'll get all of Forever Evil culminating into this series, and have a giant holy shit moment. All in all, great book. Can't wait till next issue.
