Green Lantern: New Guardians Annual #2 Review and *SPOILERS*

Written By: Justin Jordan
Art By: Stephen Segovia, Edgar Salazar, Jed Dougherty
Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: April 30, 2014

Mirror Match

Last issue of New Guardians gave us a Kyle showing off an amount of power that nobody believes he should possess, even as a White Lantern.  But as we all should remember because this issue has to do with the repercussions of it, the Guardians believe that since Kyle survived the Source Wall, he's becoming something.  What that something is is still up to debate, but we'll be dealing with the beginning of that idea in this Annual.  This story begins after the last issue of New Guardians where Kyle teleported a whole group of people that were spread out across the universe to a single location, and as bewildered by this as he was, he was more drained than anything.  So let's see what the White Lantern of the universe is up to after this impressive use of power as we start "The Curse Of The White Lantern".

Slug Fest

When last we saw Bane, and The Talons they had won the Arkham War, and had completely taken over Gotham.  Well now that Forever Evil is over and something happened to the Crime Syndicate, (I'll let you know when I know) it's time for the Dark Knight Detective to return to his city.  What that means for us is the slug fest that will forever be known as Batman Vs. Bane.  Let's check it out, I'm pretty sure I can predict the outcome.

The Lost Boys: I, Vampire #1 Review

Written by: Joshua Hale Fialkhov
Art by: Andrea Sorrentino
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: September 28, 2011

It Doesn't Suck

I have to admit, when DC rebooted into the New 52, the only thing I knew about I, Vampire was it had Vampires in it.  I never claimed to be brilliant.  I didn't know Andrew Bennett from Alex Winter and Joshua Hale Fialkov and Andrea Sorrentino had yet to enter my radar.  As the months went by, I kept hearing about how good this book was in reviews and podcasts, but never met anyone who was actually reading it. Sales reflected that and eventually it was cancelled.  Since then, I've become a big fan of Fialkov's "The Bunker" and I adore Sorrentino's art in "Green Arrow" so it was easy to pick I, Vampire as the next Lost Boys book.  So here it goes...I, Vampire #1.

Larfleeze #10 Review and *SPOILERS*

Written By: J.M. DeMatteis, Keith Giffen
Art By: Scott Kolins
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 23, 2014

You Can't Always Get What You Want

In the last issue we saw the reject from the Merry Melodies; Larfleeze, take on the House of Tuath-Dan, and you know what?  They weren't that tough for extra dimensional gods.  Larfleeze took them all out one by one, and in the end Larfleeze flew off victorious.  The Wanderer on the other hand wasn't feeling so good about living through the ordeal, because ancient law declares that any man that defeats her in fair combat is to be her betrothed.  In the end of the issue we saw The Wanderer and Stargrave searching out her honor bound love, and Larfleeze realizing he forgot the one reason he went to the citadel in the first place, his butler Stargrave.  So Larfleeze heads back to the citadel he just destroyed, so we could possibly have a round two on our hands.  Oh and G'Nort showed up to protect a planet that Larfleeze claimed as his own.  So yeah.... G'Nort.  Let's check it out.

Justice League Dark #30 Review and *SPOILERS*

Written By: J.M. DeMatteis
Art By: Andres Guinaldo
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: April 23, 2014

Domestic Dispute

Like the way I've started every other Dark review since Forever Evil: Blight ended, when last we saw our
Dark characters they survived Project Thaumaton, The Son's of Trigon, and even Nanda Parbat itself.  Where this recap differs though is Constantine had completely abandoned his love and teammates to whatever end might come to them.  You know real douchebag type stuff.  But in the end Zatanna stepped up and the JLD got through the ordeal under new management.  So let's jump into this issue, and see where the team goes from there, and see if we have any new faces joining our supernatural society of superheroes.

Aquaman #30 Review

Written by: Jeff Parker
Art by: Paul Pelletier and Alvaro Martinez
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 23, 2014

Son of a...

Triton base can rebuild him, they have the technology.  Aquaman is a mess, but Hercules is messed up. Mera is attacked and saved by a familiar face and this book is about to get real crowded.

The issue starts off with a peek at Triton base.  Some crazy science (weird perhaps) is going down with slicing, dicing and DNA splicing. It's mysterious and cool...and lasts for one page.  Bummer.

Just For The Hell Of It Mondays 4/28/14

It's the last week of April and that means we're finally done "How Bad We Had It In The 90's" month.  We've seen the Flash getting silly with Trickster, Superboy get beat up by Lex Luger, and a depowered Clark Kent beat the hell out of a government agent.  Basically we've watched a bunch of nonsense, and originally for this week I was going to do Swamp Thing the live action series, but I did the title sequence a while ago, and I don't like repeating myself.  Luckily we do have something that will culminate the 90's live action awfulness, even with leaving Swamp Thing out.

Weird Science DC Comics News: April 23, 2014 Edition

headband, facial hair and bad boy pose
The big news of the week came out of C2E2. Sounds like one of those boy bands to me.  My favorite thing about boy bands are the roles that each member plays.  The best ones must have each demographic taken care of.  You have the pretty boy, the jock, the young one, the one that is too old and is kind of creepy, the bad boy, etc. The bad boy is my favorite. Bad boys usually rap. Why does the bad boy have to rap?  Plus, they have facial hair, wear leather jackets and headbands.  Of course, my knowledge of boy bands comes only from New Kids on the Block.

Batman Beyond 2.0 #19 Review

Written by: Kyle Higgins
Art by: Thony Silas
Cover Price: $0.99
Release Date: April 26. 2014

The Ruins Of Wayne

The Justice Lords crossover is in full effect and it's already been so good.  Watching the mystery unfold has put the tension through the roof.  I mentioned last week in my Justice League 2.0 review (shameless link) that Batman Beyond 2.0 was the street level view of the event.  Terry is in deep s*** in the Justice Lords timeline.  His mission to seek out Lord Batman was a complete failure and he's trying to figure out what to do next with his alternate self.  It's like Parent Trap meets Double Impact.  Actually it's not, I just have a weekly quota of Lindsey Lohan and Jean Claude references.

All Star Western #30 Review

Written by: Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray
Art by: Staz Johnson and Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: April 23, 2014

Back In the Saddle Again

Jonah Hex is back in the Old West. Jonah in the future was good fun, but I'm so glad the book is back to the "Western" promised in the title.  Much to my surprise, this book also makes good of the "All Star" as well, but was it any good?

Red Lanterns #30 Review and *SPOILERS*

Written By: Charles Soule
Art By: J. Calafiore, Alessandro Vitti
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 23, 2014

Justice Isn't Blind.  It's A Red Lantern, Get The Hell Out Of There!

Last time we saw the Red Lanterns they were hanging out in Supergirl #30, and the gang was defending a planet against invaders.  We also saw Kara give a long drawn out explanation why she hates people that commit genocide, and her problem solving skills led to the conclusion that the people committing genocide should all be killed.  So we have a bit of a hypocritical solution here.  In the end of that issue we saw that the alien invaders want to use Kara for their own goals to wipe species almost off the map.  It's what they call "their gift" you see, if you almost kill an entire species the survivors will become stronger.  If this is what people are calling gifts nowadays then I'm not celebrating shit anymore.  So let's see if Bleez is ready to talk about what happened to Rankorr, and see what Guy Gardner plans on doing about Atrocitus.

Smallville: Lantern #7 Review

Written by: Bryan Q. Miller
Art by: Marcio Takara
Cover Price: $0.99
Release Date: April 25, 2014

Fear Factor

A little disclosure before I start.  My name is Jim and I'm a Bryan Q. Miller fanboy.  I actually came to Smallville because of him and through the comic ended up a fan of the show.  It may be the reverse of the usual, but we all ended at the same place so all is good, right?  Guess what?  I also am a huge Green Lantern fan so this arc is tailor made for me.  After the  slight letdown of chapter 4, it has really gotten good.  In fact, after this issue it is my favorite Smallville arc.

Superman #30 Review

Written by: Scott Lobdell
Art by: Ed Benes
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 23, 2014

Six Pounds of Something in a One Pound Bag

Superman is a busy book.  A new creative team is on the horizon, but first, Scott Lobdell gets to say farewell with his part in the upcoming Doomed story.  In Lobdell's world, that seems to mean throw a whole bunch of plots and ideas at the readers with little to no transition, explanation or resolution.  Like I said, it's a busy book.

There is so much going on it's hard to sort through it.  Doomsday kills some honeymooners, Smallville's residents all fall into a coma, the eradicator holds Superman lovingly and warns him about Doomsday, Cat misses Clark, Kandor's citizens wake up and Lois is a 12th level intellect and newlywed to boot.  Did you notice my lack of transition and explanation?  Get used to it if you read this issue.

The Flash #30 Review

Written by: Robert Venditti and Van Jensen
Art by: Brett Booth
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 23, 2014

Getting Up to Speed

The main reason to check out Flash this month is the new creative team of Robert Venditti, Van Jensen and Brett Booth.  It's always fun to see how a new team goes about making their mark and the three do it by presenting a time traveling mystery, the return of a fan favorite character and a story that's a good jumping on point for new readers.  Everything is in place, but is it any good?

Central City is a mess.  I mean, it's not as bad as Gotham, but what city is?  I'm joking, but it's a real mess. Gorilla Grodd and the Crime Syndicate may be to blame, but a certain really fast running guy blames himself. The people of Central City are trying to pick up the pieces and that includes the CCPD and Barry Allen.  In order to return to duty they must all pass a psychological evaluation.  We may not know the final bit of Forever Evil, but we can guess two things...the good guys won and it took it's toll on everyone.

Thank Grodd It's Friday

Top 5 Fridays: Titles We (Mostly I) Want To See In 2014

DC Comics is going full throttle with the Futures End event coming in September, we've got preludes, titles jumping five years ahead, and most likely we'll have epilogues after the event is finished.  Even though we just got done Forever Evil and will probably be feeling the effects of said event for awhile longer, when do we have time to have new titles with regular non-event stories?  Well I don't have an answer for that, I just have a need to have a event free DCU for at least half a year.  It's just so much, and then to jump ahead to five years in the future to an event I'm lost on because we jumped ahead five years in the future, it just sounds so exhausting.  We need some breathing time in between DC, time to get our bearings straight, and to just sit back with a comic that doesn't depend on us reading four other titles to understand.  Okay ranting done, so for this week's Top 5 Friday I figure we'll look at some new titles that we want to see here at Weird Science before the end of the year.  Which is ridiculous to think about because it's only April, but the Futures End event will come fast and furious and before we know it, it will take us into the new year, so that's why we need something quick.  Here are the ones I want to see the most.  Let's check it out.

Secret Origins #1 Review

Written by: Greg Pak, Kyle Higgins and Tony Bedard
Art by: Lee Weeks, Doug Mahnke and Paulo Siqueira
Cover Price: $4.99
Release Date: April 23, 2014

Now for Something Completely...the Same

I'm a sucker for origin stories.  When DC announced Secret Origins, I squealed like a little school girl.  Not only do I get origins, but these are secret.  Secrets are funny things, though.  If everyone knows what they are, they aren't really secrets anymore.  This issue is an origin issue, but calling it secret is a stretch.  But is it any good?

Worlds' Finest #21 Review and *SPOILERS*

Written By: Paul Levitz, Greg Pak
Art By: RB Silva
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: March 26, 2014

Closing The Bridge, Not Like Jersey

So this is about a month late due to Batman/Superman #9 beings so late, and my refusal to do it until I could read the whole story, but we're here and we can finish the First Contact story in order together.  Last issue Kaizen Gammora opened the portal to Earth 2, Superman destroyed his nanites, even though they appear to be some residual nanite action going on here, and Huntress and Power Girl look through the universal bridge to see a world they no longer recognize.  It's time to stop Kaizen once and for all, and don't expect our two heroes from Earth 2 to get home because the issue after this one still has them on Prime Earth.  How do you like that for a spoiler?  So let's get done this really disappointing story.

Batman/Superman #9 Review and *SPOILERS*

Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: April 23, 2014

Fighting And Punching, That Is All

So it's finally out, the issue that I've been waiting for for two months.  Now I wrote a small article about this issue being part 3 of First Contact, and the fact that part 4 came out a month ago totally ruined my day.  So even though the conclusion has been out, I refused to read it until this issue hit the shelves.  So I'm going in fresh, and then after this I'll be reviewing Worlds' Finest #21 so we get the end of this story the way it was meant to be read.  So with that out of the way let's talk about what happened in Worlds' Finest #20.  It looks like Superman now has the nanite problem that Power Girl had for many months, and before his powers become a problem Batman gives him a kryptonite ring to keep his powers at bay.  So Batman and Power Girl infiltrate New Gammora to find out what Kaizen is up to, and it appears he's the one behind the nanites, he also made some Kryptonian human hybrids, and is opening a portal to Earth 2.  Got all that?  Good let's jump into this issue and see where the nonsense goes.

Teen Titans #30 Review and *SPOILERS*

Written By: Scott Lobdell
Art By: Tyler Kirkham
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: April 23, 2014

Callbacks And Tying Up Loose Ends

Is it weird that I'm bummed this is the last issue?  I know the we still have an Annual, and that the Titans will return in July starting fresh, but I have a certain sadness about this final standard issue.  I don't know I'm a sad sack, but I'll try not to let that bring me down here.  When we last left the Teen Titans they said goodbye to their friends Solstice and Kid Flash, and left them to the fate they decided.  No grand rescues or prison breaks, just a goodbye as the two lovers choose to serve out the punishment for their crimes.  The remaining team go back to their own time, where we meet up Bunker and Beast Boy fighting for their lives against two villains calling themselves The Light and The Way.  So it's out of the frying pan and into the fire and some more metaphors that apply to this situation.  Let's see the trouble that's in store for our young heroes this month.

Catwoman #30 Review

Written by: Ann Nocenti
Art by: Pat Olliffe
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 23, 2014

Stealing Money

Here we go again.  Catwoman is the book I love to hate.  Actually, I read it each month to get a couple chuckles.  Unfortunately, Ann Nocenti isn't necessarily known as a humorist.  No, the humor comes from the awful dialogue, the inane plot and just the pure ridiculousness of everything else.  After a month away, she is back and so are the laughs.

Catwoman #30 starts the "Race of Thieves" story and  I have to admit that I like the idea behind it.  A contest is being held to determine the best thief in the World.  Selina had just given up her life of crime, but who can pass up a contest?  Obviously not Catwoman.  Let the fun begin.

Justice League United #0 Review and *SPOILERS*

Release Date: April 23, 2014

JL Aye?

Here we are with the premier issue of Justice League United, or Justice League Canada as it was called when the rumors about it started flying last year.  We begin in a post Forever Evil world, where it appears the JLA have disbanded.  Let's start the story that will see the beginning of a brilliant new team in the DCU.

Batman Eternal #3 Review

Written by: Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV with Ray Fawkes, John Layman and Tim Seeley
Art by: Jason Fabok
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 23, 2014

"This is only beginning and it's about to get much bigger"

After reading this issue I have finally decided that I never want to visit (let alone live) in Gotham City. The joke is always that it's a horrible city, but Batman Eternal #3 kicks that up a notch. Bam!

It's easy to forget this is a weekly book.  Snyder, Tynion and company cram so much into each issue it is almost dizzying trying to keep up.  Last week, I mentioned this as a detriment.  I even speculated that there might be too many cooks, but this issue proved me wrong. So much happens, but it maintains a focus and pacing that makes it hard to put down.

Green on Green

Tom Taylor is taking his time.  The body count is down, but that hasn't made it any less exciting.  This issue takes place eclusively on OA.  Hal Jordan and the Guardians cannot see eye-to-eye on Superman's actions on Earth.  Hal is trying to convince them that everything Superman is doing is for the good of the planet, but the Guardians see Superman as a tyrant and a threat to the Galaxy.

Happy Earth 2 Day!

Just For The Hell Of It Mondays 4/21/14

Okay so we're on week 3 of the April themed Just For The Hell Of It Mondays, "How Bad We Had It In The 90's".  First week we took a look at the live action Flash TV show, and man was it over acted, wanna be Burton, and just plain silly.  Last week we saw The Adventures of Superboy and that had Lex Luger as the new Superboy, so nuff said.  I've said it every week this month but I'll do it another time just to nail it in the skulls of those of you who don't know because you've only lived in a world where live action super heroes have always been badass.  Shit was really rough in the 90's, hell we even have a Batman movie that's known as that which shall never be named.  So about this week's clip, I have for you a fight between Superman and a government agent Jason Trask, from Lois and Clark The New Adventures of Superman.  Let's check it out.

Birds of Prey #30 Review

Written by: Christy Marx
Art by: Robson Rocha
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 16, 2014

Don't Blink or You May Miss It

Birds of Prey is a book that seems to be running to stand still.  DC cares enough about it to include it in major events (Zero Year and Gothtopia recently), but it's these events that have killed any momentum the book's main story line has tried to build.  Not this month.  Christy Marx has had a  couple of months to settle in and tell her story.  The battle between Mother Eve and Ra's al Ghul is in full swing, but is it any good?

Justice League Beyond 2.0 #18 Review

Written by: Christos Gage
Art by: Dexter Soy
Cover Price: $0.99
Release Date: April 19, 2014

Wonder...Woman

This Justice Lords arc is already good and with last weeks Batman Beyond, it's only getting better.  While the Batman Beyond story is more of the street level view, the Justice League Beyond book is where the reader gets the overall plot of the story.  This week, Christos Gage slows the pace down a bit in order to give us some back story and mystery and then BAM!  Blind sides us with a right-left combo that leaves us on the ground wondering what the hell just hit us.

Weird Science DC Comics News: WonderCon/Easter Edition

Easter Sunday.  Like everyone else, two things that always pop into my mind when I think about Easter are Candy and WonderCon News.  What doesn't pop into my mind are movies.  Every Holiday seems to have it's own go to movie, but what is Easter's?  Of course, there are plenty of religious movies, but The Passions of the Christ is not my idea of a good time.  I like fun Holiday movies like Groundhog Day, Christmas Vacation and My Bloody Valentine.  So, here is my list of best Easter Movies:

DC Releases Darwyn Cooke's Batman Beyond Animated Short

DC Comics is pushing Terry McGinnis/Batman Beyond so hard, I expect him to be facing John Cena in Wrestlemania 31.  Of course, most know the character from the Batman Beyond animated series that ran from 1999 to 2001, but there is suddenly so much more.  There is the Digital First comic written by Kyle Higgins that is excellent and later this year he will star in the weekly Futures End comic.  Yesterday, the good times continued when DC released Darwyn Cooke's Batman Beyond animated short for the Batman 75th Anniversary.  Check it out, it's awesome.

Batwoman #30 Review

Written by: Marc Andreyko
Art by: Jeremy Haun
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 16, 2014

Slowly Spinning a Web

Marc Andreyko's short run on Batwoman has been good.  He has done a bang up job with lead Kate Kane, especially when it comes to her relationship with Maggie and more recently with her daughter Jamie.  Where the book has been lacking, however, is in the actual story being told.  The Art Mystery comes off as a poor man's Da Vinci Code and the Wolf Spider is a pretty weak villain.  It doesn't help that the story has been in neutral with Andreyko pushing it down the road slightly each issue.  This issue pretty much is par for the course.  We get some silly action, a hint at a major personal conflict in the future and a little bit of overall story progression.

Batman and Wonder Woman #30 Review

Written by: Peter J. Tomasi
Art by: Patrick Gleason
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 16, 2014

It's the Pits

I Loved Damian.  I'd do anything to get the little pumpkin headed brat back in the Robin outfit by his Father's side.  Peter J Tomasi was at his best with Batman and Robin.  Since then, the Batman and (insert character here), unfortunately, has ranged from good to simply unnecessary.  Last months  Batman and Aquaman was dangerously nearing the later.  This month, Batman and Wonder Woman gets there.

Smallville: Lantern #6 Review

Written by: Bryan Q. Miller
Art by: Marcio Takara
Cover Price: $0.99
Release Date: April 18, 2014

Game On

The Green Lantern Corps doesn't know of a treaty, but they have a few secrets.  Oliver is out "sleuthing", but forgot to mention it to Chloe.  We see two big bads face-to-face and one is bigger and badder than them all.

We are half way through this Lantern mini and Bryan Q. Miller is messing with my mind.  Just when I think I have a grip on where the story is going, he makes a left turn into WTF ville.  This issue has a huge moment that makes this already good story totally epic.  Suddenly, there is so much more at stake than just Sector 2813.

This week's Top 5 comes from a discussion that Jim and I were having in the Weird Science Cave, about our love for the 1960's Batman TV show, and how insane it is that over the course of 120 episodes they only had 30 villains.  Obviously since we loved the show so much, we really get into the Batman '66 comic series by Jeff Parker.  If your not familiar with Batman '66 it's a comic series that continues as if the show had never left the air.  Pretty cool right?  Well we think so, and as far as we can see it only suffers from a few problems.  It relies too much on old jokes, old villains, and doesn't bring anything new to the pop culture phenomenon that the '66 show was, and in our opinion still is.  So for this week's Top 5 Friday we're going to take a look at villains in Batman's rogues gallery that pretty much beg to be a part of this series.  Now I don't want to catch shit for these choices because some of the villains were created after the show ended, that doesn't matter to us.  Criteria for being on the list is character's looks, personality, back story, and pretty much just because I say so.  That's right mom I'm in charge now.  Oh and Jeff Parker, I'm not saying that I need to be named co-author on any of the Batman '66 issues you get out of this, but I don't think an honorable mention is too far out of line.  So let's dive into the list and see "Villains That Should Be In Batman '66".

Supergirl #30 Review and *SPOILERS*

Written By: Tony Bedard
Art By: Emanuela Lupacchino
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 16, 2014

Always Say Die!

Last time we saw Supergirl was actually Red Lanterns #29, and in that issue we saw Kara go up against her cousin Superman.  Well they had a small spat, she really only hit him with a cargo ship.  As you can image Superman wasn't too pleased with Kara being a Red Lantern, but in the end he decided that if this is what she wants to do who is he to stand in the way.  But imagine it more as if he's cutting her out of the family because of the way she's been acting since the beginning of the New 52.  All in all Guy Gardner got the threat of bodily harm if anything happens to Supergirl, and when the team make their way back to Ysmault they find a bloody Bleez who tells our team that Atrocitus is coming.  Let's see what the new protectors of sector 2814 are up to this month.

Wonder Woman #30 Review

Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 16, 2014

Gods and Monsters...and Bondage Minotaur

Let me start off by telling you, I'm not a lifelong fan of Wonder Woman.  I always liked her whenever she popped up in what I was watching or reading, but I never followed her solo titles.  Until the New 52. Actually, until we started out little site to review the New 52.  When we divided up the books, I got "stuck" with Wonder Woman.  As it turns out, it was like getting "stuck" with a winning lottery ticket.  I was immediately enthralled by Brian Azzarello's mythological take, but it was the depth of character and interactions that hooked me in.  His characters are real people, gods and people alike.  Cliff Chiang's artwork didn't hurt one bit either.  After thirty issues, I still am in love with the book for all the same reasons.

Sinestro #1 Review and *SPOILERS*

Written By: Cullen Bunn
Art By: Dale Eaglesham
Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 16, 2014

Fear Itself

Here we are with a brand new Lantern title, and unlike when Larfleeze started, I'm psyched.  As far as I can tell this title takes place after Forever Evil because our favorite face of fear has parted ways with Parallax, and has been spending his time isolated from the rest of the universe.  So let's dive in and see what pulls Sinestro from his self imposed exile, and puts him back in the game.  What game you ask.  Well the game of FEAR!  Let's get started.

DC Finally Announces Their New Weekly Series, Earth 2: World's End

It's been talked about for awhile now, but as you all know talk's cheap and I wasn't willing to get my hopes up for something that might never happen.  Earth 2: World's End will be the new weekly title coming out of DC starting in October, and I can't wait.  The writing team will consist of Tom Taylor, Daniel H. Wilson, Paul Levitz, Marguerite Bennett, and Mike Johnson, and the art will be provided by Tyler Kirkham, Eddy Barrows, Jorge Jimenez Moreno, Paulo Siqeira, and Stephen Segovia.

That's all well and good, but the one name we're missing to get me worked up to almost completion is Nicola Scott.  For some reason in my mind Nicola Scott is needed to make an Earth 2 book, and I don't know if the regular title would be as popular as it is without her.  We'll have to wait and see but I'm hyped man.  I had a bit of an issue dealing with Forever Evil: Blight being every week, and I got a bit burnt out from it.  But Earth 2 is a joy to read every month, and I don't think October can come quick enough.

Looking at the promotional art here it looks like we get a few spoilers about the fate of our Worlds' Finest duo.  It looks like Power Girl and Huntress finally make there way back to Earth 2, and what that means for their own title I don't know, but it would seem weird keeping it going with a weekly title, and the monthly Earth 2 book.  Who knows maybe we'll get three Earth 2 books then, and I'm still cool with it.  So get hyped up, and build a time machine for me so I can get this weekly title ASAP.

Rage Against The Machine

It's late but it's finally here.  Last issue of Justice League we saw Cyborg search out Dr. Magnus, to get the aid of his Metal Men to take down the Crime Syndicate, and free the Justice League from Firestorm's matrix.  Well we saw that and the awesome back story to the Metal Men, if you missed that check out the SPOILED review HERE.  Now it's time to reactivate the Metal Men, and for Cyborg to get a little curb stompin' payback on Grid.  Let's check it out.

Batman Eternal #2 Review

Written by: Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV

Cover Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 16, 2014

Better Than A Train Wreck

Batman Eternal is a weekly comic.  That means it comes out every week for the year long event.  Every week.  I'm not sure the multiple writers got the memo because they shove so many plot points and new characters into issue #2 it is almost ridiculous.  I say almost because it is pretty damn good as well.  A big, awesome mess of a story.

Last weeks issue left people dead, Batman confused and Jim Gordon in handcuffs.  Spoiler issues aside (I'm still a bit mad at DC for that), the first issue of Eternal was good.  Knowing the length of the story, I didn't expect tons of answers this week, but I also didn't expect so many more additions.  In fact, there might be too much here.  I know, how can I complain about getting too much?  Well, everything is just thrown at the reader without much transition.  I wouldn't say it's confusing, but it is an overload.  It would have been nice to let some of the big things sink in.

Batman #30 Review

Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: April 16, 2014

Madness Is Coming At Ya

Zero Year has been Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's ambitious retelling of Batman's origin.  It's been great because of the winks and nods at the past while establishing it's own mythos.  The final chapter, Savage City, is here and the title is fitting.  Gotham City is barely recognizable.  Where the first two parts seemed familiar enough to grasp, Savage City is different.  This difference is not just a surprise to the reader, but to Bruce Wayne as well.

The issue opens with a flashback/dream sequence reminiscent to the Tokyo Moon bit that started the Zero Year story.  It's quick, eerie and I'm sure will pay dividends in the future.  This is Scott Snyder, you know. Then, after a shout out to No Man's Land, we get to the heart of the matter, Bruce Wayne didn't come out of Dark City unscathed.  In fact, it looks like he's been out of it for a while..
